Good location, room standard very disappointingPosted Oct 3, 2013
Cons: How do you improve the size of rooms?
Location: Quick access to shopping and food outlets. Right on the esplanade.
Reception, lounge and location of hotel could justify the 4 stars shown above Reception area. However, our room was very disappointing. 2 stars at most. Lift to first floor of little use with cases as after exiting lift there were 2 sets of steps and 3 heavy doors to negotiate. The room was extremely small. No room for cases, a small wardrobe that was difficult to access and the outlook from our window, dismal. The room became stuffy, large window could only be opened at certain times due to security and possible entry by nearby pigeons. Bathroom facilities were fine, including rack for drying.

Good Hotel well locatedPosted Oct 2, 2013
Original room (102) we booked online as an upgrade from a standard room. We were disappointed with the outlook as it was rear facing looking onto the landing of the fire escape. At 6.45 am we were woken by banging and clattering of metal bins , the sound of an electric hoist and voices of the kitchen staff. We requested a move and were offered a sea view room on the 2nd floor at an additional cost of £30.00 per night. This was a very good room. It should be noted that the original room should not be offered to guests as it is not fit for purpose.

good hotel just a wee bit priceyPosted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel seems to have been recently refurbished .. the reception area, restaurant.. the public toilets and the downstairs area were spotless and bright and airy and the staff were excellent as well the hotel was 200 meters from the ferry terminal and 2 mins walk from the main shopping street and also located on the promenade and had good views of the sea so could not complain about that.. the breakfast was lovely and restaurant staff excellent too ......the hotel was a little expensive for what ya got .. I would have expected a swimming pool and leisure centre for the price we paid. A similar hotel down the street was slightly cheaper and had a pool and leisure centre .. we also ate in both hotels and the other one was much better value.. also the corridors were narrow and had several doors and sets of steps which made things awkward when bringing in your luggage ..the lift was no use as we found it easier to go up the stairs to the first floor rather than go to the 2nd floor in the lift and then go to our room .. we only went in the lift once during our whole stay ...overall tho its a good hotel and happy to recommend

Fantastic BreakfastsPosted Aug 19, 2013 on Hotels.com
Good service at reception, comfortable room, great food. Quite a lot of steps - in to hotel and to my room, though a lift was available it did not access every level.

The cleaning staff had not cleaned room when we returned at 4 o'clock one afternoon and disabled electronic lock when they left. Restaurant/bistro: had to wait an hour to be served after table made ready for us. Did not use the restaurant after this.Hotel is on the front and was severly affected by the noise of seaguls feeding their fledlings on flat roof at the back of the hotel.Sleep was very difficult and because the weather was great and the hotel did not have airconditioning for the bedrooms we left the windows open, sleep was close to impossible. Breakfasts were good and staff tried very hard to please, but failures continued to occur.

Pros: Excellent breakfast
Cons: Small, cramped room.
Overall, ok. We were in one of the standard rooms but it was cramped and tucked away at the back of the hotel.

Good location by the promenadePosted Apr 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
Really good location, opposite the bay/promenade, and close by to the sea terminal and shopping area with plenty of restaurants. Room was comfortable and fine for what I needed. Appreciated the free wi-fi. Hotel was undergoing building work during my stay but was not inconvenienced by it. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast downstairs was good and lots of choice. My one complaint was the room service breakfast was poor. The tea pot had no hot water in it, and no milk in the jug, toast was cold. They took the metal cover away that could have at least kept my hot food hot while I ate the other items. I put this on a comments card which was taken by the maid during my stay but not acted upon. No-one ever asked how my stay was to know.

Good but under constructionPosted Apr 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel is being refurbished which I was not aware of when we booked, it should be nice once completed. Bar needs more informal seating area.
