Very convenient hotel for Newport. Pleasant rooms

Posted Apr 4, 2014
Pros: Everything else
Cons: Bathroom in Room 3
Location: Right in the middle of Newport. We were visiting relatives so did not travel far.
all was good except in room 3, the bathroom was absolutely freezing. No heating at all. In the morning the last thing you need, is a freezing bathroom. The staff did offer to move us which was kind but too much trouble. They also gave us a heater which was OK but v inconvenient. Overall I would go there again, but not in room 3.

I stayed for a single night arriving early evening and departing early. The staff were very friendly and efficient. I dined in the restaurant, in the evening. The food was excellent. Breakfast, was also very good. The room was clean and very well presented. Overall very satisfied.

"unpleasant experience"

Posted Oct 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
I was staying in this hotel with 2 friends in 2 different rooms. My room was not cleaned at all before me and my female friend moved in. We just found out someone had drunk a bottle of water and left it there. Moreover, the toilet was used and did not give it a flush. It was so disgusting. We arrived the hotel quite late. I am sure they had enough time to prepare the room. On the next day, we checked out in the morning. We wanted to leave our lugguage at the hotel and go back to collect it later on. However, the staff just told us they closed on that day (Sunday)(Will a hotel close on sunday?) and no one were there. Therefore, they could not keep our luggage and just say goodbye. Another bad news, the storm was coming and it was raining. I have never heard about a hotel does not have this service even we are willing to pay. It was the second day we visited Isle of Wight. How could we carry 2 heavy hand luggages to visit attractions? We was trying to ask any hotels nearby, the bus station and tourist information but it seems they did not want to take the risk which they could not keep any unexcepted lugguage. We understood and gave up. I am so disappointed if the hotel does not provide lugguage keeping service, why didn't they post on the website or mention this in the confirmation email? I would definitely cancel booking this hotel or try to find out another way to solve the problem. One more thing, downstairs is a hotel restaurant. They play loud music till midnight.

Convenient for centre of town

Posted Sep 24, 2013
Pros: The friendly staff and convenience for centre. Nice breakfast.
Cons: See above, quite a lot.
Location: Centre of county town. Cinema, shops usual chains. Tuesday market, Friday Farmers market. Lots of pubs, charity shops and hairdressers.
We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The hotel was convenient for the town centre and the room we had was a good size. Those are the good things. On the downside was the constant drumming sound of music which to be fair wasn't particularly loud but all the base beats just drove us mad. We asked for the music to be turned down 4 times during our stay which was done with good grace from the staff but why oh why does there have to be music all the time. The decor was a bit tired, could do with sprucing up and the bed although a nice size was not that comfortable. Also toiletries provided only once during a 4 day stay was a bit stingy especially as we had paid what we thought was a very high price. All in all we expected better for our money and have in the past paid the same for a top London hotel.

Convenient hotel in centre of Newport

Posted Sep 13, 2013
Pros: Small and intimate
We wanted somewhere to stay in between Bembridge and Cowes and thought Newport might be a possibility. I goggled hotels in Newport and Braunstone Hotel looked ideal which it was. The restaurant was extremely good as was the service. Would thoroughly recommend.
