Lovely guest house in good location.Posted Oct 4, 2013
Can't really find fault with the guest house, spotlessly clean, great breakfasts, good location & the owners were very friendly and helpful. No hesitation in recommending this accommodation.

Perfect B&B on doorstep of Shanklin's old villagePosted Sep 22, 2013
Really can't fault the place. The B&B was in a perfect location, the hosts were welcoming (a nice cuppa on arrival), our room was large and immaculately clean and the breakfast delicious. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Birkdale.

Icing on the cake!Posted Aug 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Birkdale is only 1 minute's walk away from the centre of the Old Village of Shanklin, where there is a wealth of eateries to suit all tastes and a variety of tourist shops catering for every taste in souvenir shopping. The Birkdale was an excellent place to stay, spotlessly clean and offering the most attentive of hosts in Jackie & Bill. We were welcomed with a tray of tea/coffee and given some excellent advice as to what to see/do and where to go... our room (twin-bedded on ground floor) was somewhat bijou but the beds were divinely comfortable and the shower room came equipped with a full set of complimentary toiletries and sparkling white towels. Breakfasts were a delight... a wide range of cereals, yoghurts, fruit (fresh and tinned), breads, jams, sauces, etc and Bill was expert at cooking a magnificent house special brekkie which was adapted to your own personal preferences, which could even include smoked salmon or fresh kippers! We could not have asked for a better (in all respects, including value for money) place to stay and have already decided to book here again when next we visit the Isle of Wight. Thank you, Jackie and Bill... you were the "icing on the cake" ! :-)

Great b&b a stones throw away from the old villagePosted Aug 12, 2013
Had a great stay. The cooked breakfasts were superb and the location was great. We were a 2 minute walk from the old village and there was a great choice of places to eat and drink and only about 10 mins more down to the beach. All in all a fantastic time. Would definitely return and can only recommend highly.

superb b & BPosted Aug 11, 2013
Pros: Relaxed atmosphere
Cons: parking - if you arrived late might be a problem
We found everything spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Jacqui & Bill are lovely hosts and can't do enough for you. Breakfasts were perfect. Lovely situation in old town of Shanklin.

ImmaculatePosted Aug 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
Everything about The Birkdale was faultless. Bill & Jackie are the perfect hosts and the guesthouse is looked after impeccably. The room was perfect and immaculately clean. The breakfast kept us going til the evening. The Birkdale is ideally located in old town and has an amazing choice pubs and restaurants to explore. Highly recommended.
