Good Hotel For An Overnight StayPosted Sep 15, 2013
Pros: Proximity to the motorway, clean room and ample bathroom
Cons: Service in the restaurant and the entree and dessert buffets need to be checked more often and restocked
The rooms at this updated Campanile are much improved from the old style. We stayed overnight on route to Spain and the hotel was perfect for this, close to the motorway and easy to find. The receptionist was great and really helpful. Restaurant surroundings were very pleasant and food was satisfactory. Only downside was the service we were left with the menus and then ignored by our waiter for at least 20 minures or more. The restaurant was quite full but taking a drinks order would have helped whilst we were waiting. Once we eventually managed to get the attention of one of the waitresses it was fine. Overall would say good hotel for one or 2 nights but maybe not for a longer stay

Typical campanile, absolutely adequate for 1 night stay, beds clean an comfortable, Restaurant menu same as all Campaniles, and in my view not inspiring and quite expensive. Good selection of food at shopping centre nearby.

Pros: position in France
Location: Issoire has an attractive old centre
We used the campanille foR an overnight stay(driving to Spain) specifically because it had a resturant. My steak was fine but my wife's salmon was uncooked and cold in the middle. A second was served so overcooked it was hard.A free breakfast was offerred(to my wife) and at my insistence the price of her evening meal was removed from our bill, but had I not been assssertive we would have ended up paying for it. It was a poor offerring from a chain thats crows about their food-my wife did offer a free cookery lesson to their staff. Dissappointing

Dissatisfied customerPosted Sep 26, 2012 on Hotels.com
The location of the hotel is convenient to the motorway. The overall condition of the hotel is good but it has recently been modernised and lost it's colourful geraniums which is a pity. The meal was good and the staff friendly and efficient. However we were unhappy with the room we were allocated as the blind was down and could not be opened meaning we could have no natural light, rather like a cave! When we brought this to the attention of the manager he said he knew about this but couldn't do anything as it was broken, he said he had no other rooms available. Talking to another member of staff we learnt it had been like this for some time so surely it should have been repaired . We have used this hotel several times before but after this experience we are now considering our options.

The wrong sort of room, and a foul smell.Posted Sep 13, 2012 on Hotels.com
We found ourselves assigned to a room for disabled people; so there was a large bathroom, which is fine, but the bedroom was correspondingly smaller and there was very little furniture apart from the bed. I asked to be moved and was told that there were no other rooms available. We then became aware of a horrible smell from the bathroom that grew worse and worse. We had driven a long way that day, from Caen, and were too tired to drive round other hotels; a quick search on my tab showed that other chains in Issoire were full, though from previous experience I know that this doesn't always mean that they are. So we put up with it. As we went to dinner another couple were checking in, so we hadn't been given the last room after all. In the morning the management agreed that the cause was probably a blocked drain and said they would look at it - too late for us, of course. One other moan: the hairdryer had a mechanical fault and made a loud scream when we tried to use it. I should say that otherwise the hotel was up to Campanile standards, but it was an unpleasant experience to stay that night. The morning staff seemed genuinely apologetic, but the previous night's reception was off-hand and dismissive.

Having booked through Hotels.com it was good value. Food and restaurant service was very poor.

Hotel Camponile IssoirePosted May 23, 2011 on Hotels.com
Very clean comfortable room. Staff were very polite and helpful. I telephoned the main phone in Uk as we were going to be very late arriving. I found the UK agent extremely helpful and she phoned the hotel to warn them of our late arrival. Nothing was too much trouble for the manager on duty. Excellent service. Buffet breakfast selection was good for meat eaters but very little offered for vegetarians and the food was not covered against flies. However, overall it was a comfortable and clean overnight stay with professional and pleasant staff.
