“A Good Find”

My Girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The location is great, you are about a 10 min walk from all the sights and just far enough away from the hektic tourist areas. Clean and comfortable room, and good staff. Only thing to be weary of is their taxi scam. IF you ask them to call you a taxi to the airport, they tried sending us with a private service which wanted 30 EUROS (55 YTL) when it only costs 30 LIRA (16 EURO) to get back to the airport.

“Great Location!”

The hotel was centrally located from all the tourist spot in Istanbul. It is close to the metro. We are happy with our stay at the Antik Hotel.

“Not impressed”

I had chosen Antik hotel, because I saw a restaurant with an awesome sea view at the upper floor. But it wasn't as good at fact - sea view was good, but service was awful. And there are a lot of restaurants with beautiful view in the city. So we were in hotel restaurant just once.

“Average hotel with too high of a price”

Most of the pictures posted did not look anything like the hotel we stayed at. The cistern (one of the 2 restaurants and bars) in the basement was closed during our stay, which was a big let-down. The breakfast buffet was not very good at all with little selection and a choice between undercooked hard-boiled egga and watery powdered eggs. Our oom was much smaller than we anticipated with walls so thin that the hotel felt the need to rig the t.v.'s so that the volume only goes up to a level that is barely audible. On the plus side, the hotel is located right across the street from the Grand Bazaar and is only a 10 minute walk from the Hagia Sofia and Bllue Mosque. The staff were all very attentive and welcoming as well.

The room was small and somewhat comfortable; was to be expect for a boutique hotel. Most of the staff spoke broken english and were friendly. The front desk staff were not very friendly and not very willing to help with directions or any other usual traveling advice. The restaurants were never busy and were not open the hours advertised. The describtion of the hotel said it had a dance club in the basement, I'm still trying for figure that out - there was no club. No 24 hour room service as advertised. The neighborhood was questionable and at times a bit scary. The building next door looked like it was going to fall over at any moment. Overall, there are much better hotels to stay at in Istanbul, with more accomidating staff, located in better parts of town and closer to the major attractions than the Antik. I will definately go back to Istanbul, but I will not stay at the Antik Hotel again.

“Tired Property”

This place needs a major update. While the room was comfortable (junior Suite), the decor and furniture need replacing. As well, the ventilation system allowed cigaret stench to travel between rooms.
