Very pleasant experience

Posted May 21, 2015
Pros: The rooftop was amazing
Location: Hotel Armada is a short walk from the major sites in the Old City
Now that I am back home I can't stop thinking about my stay at the Armada. My room was small-ish but delightful - comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom, charming decor. I slept wonderfully. everything worked perfectly, from shower/tub to air conditioning to tv. Although the hotel seemed full and busy, it was quiet. The staff were friendly and very helpful. and the location was perfect - a short walk to all the historic sites. But most wonderful was the rooftop restaurant. The view of Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the sea was unsurpassed and the food, both for breakfast and dinner was delicious.

Good Location

We stayed here in mid May for one night on our own and three nights with an OAT tour group. There are nicer smaller hotels in this area but the Armada is large, clean and reasonably located - a strenuous 10 to 15 minute walk up hill to the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofia. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was good with lovely view of these from its roof top location

Charmantes Hotel in der Altstadt

Posted May 12, 2015

Best location in Istambul

Posted May 3, 2015
Pros: Location, clean, excellent breakfast buffet, good restaurant for dining and attention of staff. Rooms are good for the category of the hotel.
Cons: If your room is located in the back of the hotel and there is a party in the ground floor, you won't sleep-no insulation and noise level is high.
Location: Walking distance (up the hill) from Sultanahmet, Hagia Sofia, Topkapi Palace, Archeology Museum, Grand Bazaar and several other historical locations.
The hotel is right into the old wall, in front of the Bosphorus, so you have a nice view from the 3rd floor top restaurant. The front desk is attentious and gave us maps and some info, but not pushy to sell stuff - we bought the Museum Pass (which is a must - you save $) in front of Topkapi, and found later that the hotel offers them at the front desk. The breakfast buffet is excellent, plenty of food with very little western options - but excellent types of cheese, nuts, sweets, fruits, etc at the top floor, and it is self service. There are many options to eat out if you want to walk more for dining or you can ask for a cab, but dining at the hotel's reataurant is also very good and not expensive - food is great, waiters are very good. We had an experience with a wedding party Saturday night and the traditional stomping was very lound in our room on the 1st floor. I called the front desk and asked for a timeline and they said up to midnight, and as I complained they offered me another room to spend the night away from the party, at no charge, and in 5 minutes we were set up. We arrived from S. Gocke airport, and traffic was horrible more than an hour commute. Strongly recommend setting up a taxi using Adore tour via Web - very reliable and reasonable cost. The hotel is well worth the price, and we wil come back for sure.

Great hotel for a trip at Istanbul

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: location
Cons: modernize the room /hotel
Hotel is very practical and conveniently located at Old Town: Friendly and efficient staffs, good breakfast and WiFi. Rooftop terrace is a big plus.
