“Perfect location”

You can walk to everything but the old city wall!! The Tram is your best transportation. It is cheap and punctual!! Loved it!!

“Comfort and Convenience in the Heart of Sultanahmet, Istanbul”

I had visited this hotel and several others in the area in anticipation of my brother and sister in law's visit to Istanbul, where I live. I chose it for location, ambience, friendliness of staff, and my overall positive impression of the hotel. My only complaint was that a road crew was working on the street in front of the hotel for three nights in a row, using extremely loud tools, because the part of the street they needed to work on was directly between the tram tracks and thus needed to be dealt with in the middle of the night when the tram wasn't running. Other than that inconvenience (which wasn't the hotel's fault but would have been nice to have been warned about by the hotel) I had a very pleasant stay. I would recommend eating your breakfast before the sun rises above the surrounding buildings as the breakfast room becomes pretty steamy pretty quickly.

Area recommendations

Sultanahmet for convenient access to the main tourist attractions in the city, Taksim if you are looking to party, Ortakoy if you want more of the neighborhood experience. Most places in the city are easily reachable by public transportation, so no matter where you are it is not difficult to get around.

When to go

Istanbul is hot in the summer and cool to cold in the winter. The best time to go is the spring, when the tulips are blooming all over the city. It can be more crowded then, but the city in bloom is something very much worth seeing.

“Empire Palace -- great place to stay”

The Empire Palace was very attentive to our needs. When we found that the room that we booked was very small, they moved us to a bigger room at no extra cost. Their breakfast was far superior to other hotels, and the waiters all had a sense of humor and joked with customers making breakfast a delight. The reception desk was helpful in finding special transport to sites outside Islamabad even though it was the EID holiday and most businesses around the city were close. I recommend the hotel as a fine place to stay in the middle of the historic part of Istanbul.

“A really cozy and nice hotel”

Staff was very helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast was surprisingly good. Being on the tram line made things very convenient for sightseeing.

“Can't wait to go back!!!”

The hotel was wonderful and the workers were so very nice. Yes, the rooms are a bit small, but even for a week, it was nice. The front desk personnel were wonderful and very helpful in arranging many day trips during our stay. If we were looking for a specific place to shop, they would arrange a taxi or call the company to have a car come get us. We cannot wait to go back to Istanbul and I would stay at the same hotel again.

Area recommendations

The area of the hotel is very close to everything. Your day trips, buses come to pick you up at the hotel and take you to the meeting locations and bring you back at the end of the trip/day.

It was beautiful there in July. The weather was wonderful.

Getting there

We brought a taxi to the hotel. But the tram will take you from the airport to basically the hotel as one of the tops is pretty much right outside the hotel area.

We walked around to many places.

Bring good walking shoes.

Nightlife

Going to the park at night and listening to the music and watching people was just wonderful. There is many things going on and a lot of site seeing.

“Not worth the star rating”

The main advantage of the hotel is its location, the price was acceptable.....the rest is totally overrated. The lobby is triste, the room was tiny, overstuffed with antiquated furniture, the view from the room was onto a sad courtyard, the "fabled" view from the breakfast room was not impressive (mostly rooftops, Topkapi and Hagia Sophia largley concealed), breakfast itself was good the first day, then repetitive and limited. Charging 15 Euro for a very homely and esentially dysfunctional hamam was outlandish (the hotel ad never mentioned that they would charge for the hamam, other hotels in the same vicinity don't) Overall there are better hotels, in a better location, much better view. Not recommended

“It is not like a Best Western Hotel in US”

This is a small family hotel. The location is excellet. The breakfast is good. The room is small in American standard. It was very cold during the night in November. It is not like a Best Western Hotel in America.
