“Excellent Hotel in excellent city”

The hotel was fantastic. The staff was attentive and the hotel was immaculate. The pool/sauna area was the best part of the hotel.

“Pleasant and comforable hotel with good facilities”

Very pleasant and comfortable hotel to stay in. The room was spacious and well furnished. The jacuzzi in the bathroom was a luxury.The best facilities are turkish baths and swiiming pool/sauna/snow room etc. Good location for sight seeing.

“Great Hotel”

The room was simply great. Very spacious, clean and the beds are comfortable (don't forget to choose your favourite pillow. The Jacuzzi is big and functional. The toilets have a geberit system that is very convenient, you'll quickly get used to it. I've been impressed by the overall quality of the hotel. I also got dinner once there and the fish is very good. The service is also good. The breakfast is not good, it may be a good idea to take a light breakfast and try some very good restaurants in Istanbul. Also the location was great for me, animated, not too much touristic, and 200m away from a tramway station (that is OK with a 4 yrs kid) . There are also some good cheap restaurants around.

“Not a Five Star Hotel !”

I booked this as a treat for a two day break in a work schedule, and it was great price for a 5* hotel. The hotel is in a great location, old city next to the Grand Bazaar and of course like many old cities a little dark at night which might make some people nervous. But Istanbul is very safe and not to worry is my advice to anyone. But the hotel is very old and not the 5* modern hotel you imagine these days, it has some of the most rude staff I have ever meet in Turkey and in a country where service is great was a shock. Please do not base the country on this hotel as its just their training that was bad. Room was big and the memory mattress and pillow great, but you have to rent the plug for $10 for the bath if you want to use the the advertised hot tub, jacuzzi large tub. It was not what I was looking for, but as it was a "secret" hotel and name not known until booked I could not check it out first.

“Not Impressed”

I strongly recommend that you do NOT stay at the Celal Aga Konagi Hotel - the staff were extremely unhelpful. The reception staff upon check-in did not even provide us with a simple greeting of 'Good Afternoon' let alone a summary of the hotel facilities or meal timings. It appeared that most staff members were unable to speak English - when it suited them, so to ask simple questions turned in to a complete chore. Although the hotel rooms were of excellent standard and were very well presented and of good size, I feel this was insignificant as compared to the treatment endured by the appalling rude staff. Breakfast was quite average, and again the breakfast staff appeared to 'forget' their English (the hotel literature was written in Turkey and English, so I fail to see why they were unable to communicate accordingly). Therefore, in order for you to fully enjoy your experience in Istanbul, I would suggest that you completely avoid this hotel.

“Not happy with the service”

I enjoyed Istanbul, but I was disappointed with the services of the hotel. The room was not cleaned properly. I requested for a late check out, but they refused to grant me any although the hotel was almost empty. I requested airport shuttle, but the price was more than double a normal taxi.....etc

“Not impressed and definately not a 5 star hotel - avoid this one”

This hotel was very disappointing. It was booked as a 5 star hotel with breakfast. At breakfast (which is poor) they have an additional charge of Euro 2 for an omlet (5 star ehhh). When we asked for a restaurant, the concierge walked us three doors down and they were very insistent for us to eat there - (not sure if they get a commisison for this) At the hotel reception, a big sign no outside food for drink in the room - very low class - so what if i want to bring a bottle of water or coke or a candy bar from outside - I found this rude. It is definately not a 5 star hotel, and I was disappointed as I travel a lot (over 100,000 miles a year with the airline and stay in hotels all the time) and this was a getaway for my birthday that was disappoiinting. The hotel adverstises near Grand Bazaar but it is a taxi ride away and not that close compared to other normal five star hotels
