Great value, comfortable room, & perfect location

Posted Jan 3, 2014
Pros: Excellent value, very comfortable, great location and friendly staff.
Location: Walking distance to the main Sultanahmet sights--Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Sultanahmet tram/metro station, Grand Bazaar.
This was a nice little hotel nestled in the perfect location within walking distance of the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Grand Bazaar, etc. Also within walking distance is the Sultanahmet tram station. The hotel was a bit hard to find when I arrived late at night so make sure bring a map or your cab driver knows where he is going. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and breakfast in the morning was delightful.

Great hotel close to tourist attractions in old to

Posted Sep 29, 2013
Pros: Wonderful staff who were so friendly and very very helpful. Loved eating breakfast on the roof top terrace.
Location: Wonderful location - shops, restaurants and bars just around the corner and only a 5 minute walk to the Blue Mosque and other attractions.
Only stayed for 1 night which was our last night in Turkey. Wish we had more time to spend there. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We had booked a twin room and were given a double room which was quickly changed when we pointed out the error. Staff were very happy to provide an early breakfast for one of our party who was departing before the normal breakfast time.

Fantastic family run hotel in Sultanahmet

Posted Jul 8, 2013
This family run hotel is in a great position in Sultanahmet near all the key tourist sites. The room we had was an extremely large twin room, although it was made up as a double when we arrived, which we remade ourselves into separate beds. The room was exceptionally clean and had a nice, modern bathroom with a good shower. The staff could not be more friendly, welcoming and helpful. There is no lift in the building, but they carried our bags to and from our room on the third floor. Breakfast was included and similar to all breakfasts we had in Turkey (which I personally did not enjoy) but this also included freshly squeezed orange juice which was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

Great atmosphere created by enthusastic staff

Posted Jul 1, 2013
Pros: Location and staff attitude
Cons: Nothing worth mentioning
Location: Ideal for exploring Istanbul's Sultanahmet district
This is a small hotel (10 rooms only from memory) with real atmosphere and service created by young and enthusiastic staff. Unusually for a property of this size, reception is staffed 24/7. Nothing was too much trouble and we were surprised with little extras offered freely - drinks on arrival and departure, phone calls back home, little (but thoughtful) gifts for everyone on departure. While the amenities are basic (probably 3-star; eg no lift in a 4-storey building, but plenty of assistance up the stairs with our luggage), the property looks fresh, rooms are cleaned daily and it is ideally located close to the main restaurant street in Sultanahmet and a short stroll to the key sights. At around AUD$150 per night, we found it outstanding value and a very friendly atmosphere.

Great service

Nice little hotel in the heart of the Sultanahmet. Service exceeded my expectations as it's a nice family run hotel. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Great for seeing the main sites as they're all in close proximity. Only word of advice is printing their description of their location in Turkish to help the taxi driver get there as they advise on their website. Would definitely consider staying there again on another trip.

A Lovely Place to Stay in the Old City

Posted Feb 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
Excellent service tops the long list of reasons to choose this hotel. I truly cannot say enough about the efforts the front desk staff take to make your stay comfortable and your visit to Istanbul all that you want it to be. The hotel's location near the many of the Old City sites, free wifi, and a lovely breakfast round out the key features. The hotel is housed in a former residence. It is small (which I like) and there is no elevator, which may be a problem for those who cannot climb stairs.

A cheerful and relaxing hotel.

Pros: Friendly, helpful staff. Location.
Cons: No bar.
Location: A five minute, slightly uphill walk to Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque.
The Esans hotel is in a wonderful location and just a five minute walk from the sights and sounds of Sultanahmet Square, yet remains a quiet and relaxing place to stay. The staff could not be more helpful and ensured that our visit to Istanbul was enjoyable and fulfilling. The hotel only caters for breakfast but there are plenty of cafe/restaurants nearby for other meals. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good location and value for money.

Great hotel for seeing the sites

Posted Jan 15, 2013
Pros: Attitude and helpfulness of the staff
Cons: the stairs
Location: Great location to see the sites
Great hotel for location and value. Family owned and operated resulted in great service and attention. It's within walking distance of most of the great sites. My only issue was that breakfast buffet was a little lacking for more meats. Plenty of cheeses, vegetables, etc.. I would stay there again. Quaint old hotel with superb service.
