Pricey luxury hotel in heart of the old cityPosted Oct 16, 2014
Good points: every room has a different view, ours (418) had a balcony with a view of Hagia Sophia. The room was superbly comfortable: silken bedclothes, soft bed, fruit plate changed daily, bottles of still water, espresso machine simple to operate, desk with two chairs, an armchair, quiet air conditioning, 48 TV channels (light on sports), prompt room service, a bathroom that lacked nothing, had its own TV, bathroom scales, soft towels, a profusion of toiletries, bright lighting, and Turkish carpets. A sufficient buffet breakfast. Spacious and beautifully decorated public areas. The hotel's location and comfort are its winning points. Disappointing points: there is no information on the hotel or its facilities in the rooms. This is deliberate policy: if you want to know something, ask, and we shall be happy to answer. We discovered there was a terrace with a view of the Bosphorus behind an unmarked door on the 4th floor. How could we have asked about that? There is no pool. Not a hotel you would want to drive to, given the narrow, Byzantine streets. The concierge guard the hotel as if it were a gold mine (the guests are the gold). Overall: the location of the hotel and the luxury of its appointments are unique. Whether this justifies not the doubling, but the trebling, of prices compared to nearby hotels and restaurants is something every traveller must ponder.

Beautiful and serene in the heart of SultanahmetPosted Oct 2, 2014
Pros: Everything. Rooms, food, location and ambience.
Cons: Not much
Location: Right in the middle of it all, a few steps from the Blue Mosque and Haggia Sofia
Had two luxurious nights here. The hotel is the old prison (Remember Midnight Express??) but is beautifully converted to possible the finest hotel in Istanbul, certainly with oodles more character than the Kempinsky. Food is outstanding and the breakfast buffet sumptuous. Hotel staff helpful and accommodating. Will stay here again!

Pros: Location, Style, Comfort, Staff.
Location: Right in the centre of the old town, Sultanahmet. Neighboring The Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Basilica Cistern.
5-day break. Not a single complaint. All staff were very friendly, courteous and efficient. Bedroom was large and very comfortable. Many thoughtful little touches throughout the stay. Excellent restaurant. Stylish and comfortable bar. Wonderful views from the roof terrace.

One of the worlds great hotelsPosted Jul 21, 2014
Expedia should create a special 6.0 rating in order to capture just how wonderful this hotel is compared to most other "5" star hotels. Enjoyed everything about this hotel but especially its friendly and helpful staff.
