Posizione perfetta, hotel stupendo

Posted Oct 20, 2014

Lovely boutique hotel in the heart of the old city

Posted Oct 10, 2014
Pros: Very close to some nice bars and tram stop, easy to access rest of city. Very comfortable, welcoming staff and very clean and modern.
Cons: Hotel lift quite small , steps up to roof terrace very steep with long drop on one side (beware if you hate heights)
Location: Lots of bars and restaurants nearby although they are a bit touristy- go further afield (Beyoglu or Asian side) to find better deals.
Arrived for a 5 night stay and were met by delightful reception staff who couldn't have been more helpful (in fact the receptionist always stood whenever any guest came into reception area, a lovely touch). Room was on the top floor with fantastic view of the Bosphorus and Asian side of the city, and also close to the roof terrace which affords stunning 360 degree views across the city- great place to take a bottle of wine and watch the sunset behind the Hagia Sofia mosque. Hotel staff very helpful in recommending day trips and local restaurants, and breakfast staff also excellent, very welcoming. Breakfast was more than ample, plenty to choose from (turkish cheeses and meat, yoghurt, fruit, juices, tea/coffee and always a freshly prepared omelette). Room was very comfortable, air con worked fine and as it was in a side street the hotel and room were fairly quiet at night (although be aware that the muslim call to prayer sounds out across the city 5 times a day, including at 6 am). Area around the hotel very safe and quiet although quite touristy. Local bazaar worth a look for souvenirs but to get good deals on eating out look further afield (although nearby Giritli restaurant was outstanding for fabulous turkish food and wine)
