Excellent location, great value, lovely staffPosted Jan 15, 2014
Pros: The friendly and helpful staff, who couldn't do any more to have been more welcoming, especially when my room TV didn't work!
Cons: Not much really - the room was well cared for - but I did notice a hole in one of the carpets! Hardly an issue!
Location: The Hippodrome (less than 1min),The Blue Mosque (2mins), Aya Sofya (4mins), Basilica Cistern (5mins), Sultanahment tram (5mins)
As a first time visitor to Istanbul, I wanted to make the most of my time there, so I chose a good value hotel right in the heart of the Old Town, Sultanahmet. I chose very well! Hotel Saba is less than 30 seconds walk from the far edge of the Hippodrome and no more than 2 minutes from The Blue Mosque and four minutes from Aya Sofya, with the Basilica Cistern and Sultanahmet tram stop within a five minute amble. It couldn't have been much closer to those central attractions, and yet it was an inexpensive place to stay. The jewel in it's crown is the fourth floor breakfast room, which has magnificent panoramic views across the Bosphorus, the Blue Mosque and Aya Sofya, uninterrupted by any other buildings. That was an unexpected bonus. The breakfast buffet was well stocked, which was just as well considering the local seagulls were very swift to steal any leftovers while getting a coffee refill! I can highly recommend the scrambled eggs - they were very tasty and helped set me up for each day's walking. One potential downside is the proximity of the Blue Mosque meant that the early morning call to prayer would make it impossible to have a long lie-in! But that is hard to escape wherever you stay in Istanbul!

Amazing view of Sultanhamet Mosque!Posted Nov 22, 2013
The room was quite big, we had, as asked, two beds, one place for me and two places for my mother. The bathroom was big too, shower as well. Some TV channels in English whish is appreciable. The hotel Saba is quite modern and very clean. The breakfast was simple but good and the service always really nice! The most amazing view of Sultanhamet from the terrace, incredible ;) Beautiful view of the Marmara see too... I will definitely return in the saba hotel. A very good choice! Eve
