Nice hotel near sights

Posted Nov 9, 2014
Pros: breakfast and the friendly, strong lady who helped wtih our heavy bags
Cons: We had reserved a room for 3 people and the double bed was all set up, but the 3rd person's bed was not ready. I had to ask for sheets, etc., and fix
Location: Excellent location for visiting mosques, small bazaar, Koptapki Palace, etc. Eat at the one restaurant where they don't harrass you, Albura Kathisma.
The hotel was nice, staff friendly and helpful, breakfast delicious. 5 to 10 minute walk to sights, but if you walk through the restaurant section (left out of hotel and first right...) you will find the people trying to lure you into their establishment absolutely obnoxious. This was my first trip to Istanbul so maybe this is the standard occurence...So I don't hold this against the hotel. I had a pleasant stay at the hotel, and the breakfast buffet consisted of meats, cheeses, olives and other vegetables, fruit, yogurt, breads, juice, and coffee. You won't go away hungry!

A very nice stay

Staff were very pleasant. The roof top terrace was amazing. Breakfast nice. Rooms comfortable. I would stay here again. Great price and location for the old city sites. But venture further for more authentic restaurants then those in the neighborhood.

Cute boutique hotel close to Istanbul sights.

Pros: Great location, clean and comfortable rooms, nice staff.
Location: Sight-seeing within an easy walking distance: Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, underground cistern. Lots of good restaurants nearby
Stayed two nights while sightseeing in Istanbul. Great location near the major sightseeing highlights if Istanbul (Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, underground cistern) as well as being close to many great restaurants. I was upgraded to a deluxe room for 1st night (more for their convenience than mine, but fine with me) - very spacious room. Night two was in a standard room. It would have been cramped for two people, but spent most of days sightseeing, so really only needed it for showering and sleeping. Beds were comfortable. Air conditioning took a good 30 minutes to begin to cool down larger room, but was comfortable enough by the time I crawled into bed. The breakfast buffet, while not huge, was very good. It is served on the rooftop terrace...great views of the Bosphorus Strait to the east and Blue Mosque to the west. The terrace was also a great place to relax at the end of a day of sight-seeing. The hotel staff were very nice. They helped with directions, made recommendations for dinner, and happily stored my luggage upon early arrival before check-in time, and after check out, as I had more sight-seeing to do before an evening departure.

Close to everything you want to see

I spent three nights at the Sari Konak, and loved it. The hotel staff are extremely welcoming and courteous, and recommended some great activities (boat tour, whirling dervishes). The standard rooms are quite small but definitely enough for one or two people. The hotel is less than a five-minute walk from Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, etc, and surrounded by shops, and restaurants. The rooftop terrace is the perfect place to wind down with a glass of wine after a long day sightseeing. Beyond breakfast, there are no other meals but there are plenty of options in the neighborhood.
