“A hotel by the Constantine Hippodrome”
A modest hotel with a wonderful central location. The hotel definitely has seen better days but still rooms are clean, maintenace is good and breakfasts are quite satisfying. It's such a great location and this fact beats all minor distractions you might get. The reception staff is very friendly, the breakfast room lady is fantastic! Good value fo rmoney in a very central Sultanahmet neighborhood!
“Ideal Spot For A Short Stay”
Me and my son only had one day in Istanbul and this was the best place I could of ever hoped for. It is kitty corner from the Blue Mosque, Ayasofya is about a block away and The Yerebatab Cistern is inbetween them. Plus the Grand Bazaar the Spice Market are only about 20 walking minutes away. And the view from the breakfast room is one of the best in the city. The Breakfast buffet was great. They had a nice veriety of food and the views are great. The rooms were comperable of other european hotels. Not very big but very comfortable. The hotel had a comfortable lobby area with chairs, couches and rugs that gave it a home like feel. And it had a computer avaliable to use. The staff was really friendly and helped us with rides to the airport, mailing postcards and directions. I even called there to ask if they would hold our luggage if we got to the hotel earlier than check in time and they said they would hold our luggage. When we arrived they had a room avaliable and let us have it early. I loved Istanbul and would stay here again if I go back.
“Small but good location”
The pictures made the rooms look much bigger and nicer than they actually were. The shower also was extremely small and the terrace smaller than advertised. This being said, it was clean, the staff were nice and the location was phenomenal.
“Good things do come in small packages.”
This hotel can not be beaten for location. Next to Blue Mosque and walking distance to all you need. Rooms where small but clean, staff very helpful and friendly. Will visit again. Great breakfast room with great views. Only downside moring prayer call and traffic during the day but just close the window and soon disappears into the background. Great for mature couples or friends weekend or single traveller
“Wonderful”
The location couldn't be better, right at the edge of the Hippodrome.. From the rooftop breakfast buffet area you see up close The Blue Mosque and Aya Sophia, We stayed in five hotels during our Turkey vacation. All had breakfast buffets, but the Spectra's was the best. The staff couldn't do enough for us.
“Great location in Istanbul, Sultanahmet neighborhood”
I didn't spend a lot of time in my room, so it was perfect for meeting the basic necessities. It was in a great location within the neighborhood of Sultanahmet, I could go out and explore and easily stop back to drop off or pick up anything I needed throughout the day. The staff were great, and the location really was perfect for anyone interested in exporing the wealth of history and culture of the neigborhood. Plus, it was a quick walk to the train if you don't want to do an excessive amount of walking to other neighborhoods (I personally love to walk, and made my way on foot as far north as Galata hill).
“Highly Recommend This Hotel”
I greatly enjoyed my stay at Hotel Spectra. The view from the rooftop terrace was amazing, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would particularly like to mention the assistance of the front desk manager, Ozan, who helped me via e-mail even before I arrived at the hotel. He was consistently available to answer any questions I had regarding sights to see and the best way to get there. This was also without a doubt the easiest check in/check out procedure I've ever experienced. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone considering a trip to Istanbul. Many of the main tourist attractions are within easy walking distance, the views from the hotel are unbeatable, and the hotel staff go above and beyond to ensure that you have everything you need during your stay. Many thanks to Ozan and the staff at Hotel Spectra for such a pleasurable stay!
“Wonderful Istanbul Hotel”
Nice little hotel in a perfect location in Istanbul, immediately next to the Hippodrome, and very close to the Blue Mosque (which you get a spectacular view of each morning from the rooftop breakfast room). Hotel staff went out of their way to be helpful, always offering coffee or hot apple tea to folks in the lobby. The only problem I had was with the wireless internet. Couldn't get the signal to work in my room, but it worked fine in the lobby. Staff tried to help work it out, but we were never able to resove it. Everything else about the hotel though was wonderful.
“not nice enough for the price”
the hotel is well located and the staff is nice and the breakfast terrace is beautiful, other than that there were many problems like the room was a bit run-down, hot water not running and the electricity going out past 11pm, and the room smelling like cleaning soap so strong that we had to keep the windows open at the end of october. for a budget hotel it would be ok, and maybe the water and electricity situation was an exception, but we felt we overpaid given the lack of basic conveniences
“Great little hotel in a terrific location.”
Don't expect the Ritz but the hotel could not be in a much better location for exploring old Istanbul. The A/C struggles so make sure to leave it on (take your power card off of the key ring) when you leave to explore. Great breakfast on the roof terrace with a great view of Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. This is not the hotel for you if you want to spend a lot of time in your room enjoying the luxury surrounding you. It will be great for you if you want to be in the middle of Istanbuls sights and have an OK hotel at a reasonable price. We'd go back.
