Great boutique city hotel

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Views from our room, the rooftop bar/restaurant, the location.
Cons: Service at breakfast could be more attentive/welcoming. The poolside area was not as well kept as it could be.
Location: Outstanding location! Short walk from Taksim for transport and night life. Also a short but steep downhill walk to the river for transport/walks.
Bosphorus view rooms are a must! Pool/spa area was good rather great, but the rooftop bar/restaurant and our view from our balcony was outstanding. The location in Beyoglu, a short walk from Taksim, was perfect as it was close enough to transport links but away from the crowds and annoyances of a more touristy area. Breakfast offered a good choice.

The hotel and the staff

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: The location
Cons: Do something about the bad smell in the rooms
Location: The location is perfect, near Taksim and Dolmabacha.
The hotel and the staff were nice, but the smell in the room and the corridor was awful. The swimming pool was actually in-door, but not covered, rather than out-door. All in all, it was good, particularly the location.

Convenient Location and Good Value

Posted Jul 20, 2014 on Hotels.com
My girlfriend and I and another couple stayed at this hotel for three days while enjoying a long layover in Istanbul. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful - even calling a Turkish Bath for us to check on last minute availability. The rooftop bar provides amazing views with an evening cocktail and the breakfast buffet terrace is the perfect setting for a cup of coffee. Our room was a city view room and was clean and modern. The bed was comfortable and the rain setting in the shower was welcome after walking for miles in the city each day. The location is quiet and relatively convenient. You have to walk up a hill about a 1/4 mile in order to get to the Taksim attractions, so I wouldn't recommend the hotel for folk who don't enjoy walking. A short walk down the hill to the Bosphorous will get you to a great Tram line that goes straight to the Old City. We found this a great way to get around the city and see the sites. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the Opera Hotel to others.

Nice view of Bosphorus

Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: Very close to Taksim and facilities are nice within hotel. The hotel is situated in a quiet part of Taksim, unlike noisy hotels I have used before.
Location: Taksim, Bosphorus boat tours, Miniaturk, Aquarium, Blue Mosque, Grand Bizaar, Spice Bizaar...etc...
Paid extra for a Deluxe room, with city view, and as I was traveling with Family I requested the two rooms to be connected. However, when arriving the Deluxe room with City view does not have connecting rooms, and the city view is rather a street view...you don't see the city and nice lights...it is a misunderstanding from my part ??? of-course... However, to have a connecting room, I paid an additional 35 euro per night, and that came with a deluxe room view of the Bosphorus, which was beautiful and exceptional during the evenings...

Terrible

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Staff lacked hotel management and basics of being polite.
Location: Location was very convenient to Taksim square and other beautiful areas of Istanbul, such as Bebek, Nisantasi and Arnavut Koy.
Hotel staff were not polite and misallocated my room and realised after a couple of hours later, that they made an error. Then I was moved to room with a very smelly bath and they failed to pick this up before moving me in. I regret booking this hotel and would not recommend anyone to stay here.

Very nice boutique hotel.

Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: The staff were always friendly and helpful I liked the decor which was different
Cons: The tea making in the room was not always replenished
Location: The location was fairly central - a short uphill walk to main square and caf├ęs and hop on hop off bus A down hill 10minute walk to the ferries
Friendly small boutique hotel - central to main square also a pleasant walk down to the ferry. The main bar was never manned - which was disappointing However, the roof restaurant and bar in the evening was superb with wonderful views
