“Nice Hotel - Great Location”
The hotel has the best location is Sultanahmet and is very close to all the tourist sites. The staff is very courteous and professional. The rooms are at the low end of 4 class hotels, especially the bathrooms are small and not user-friendly. The breakfast is good but needs more variety in hot foods. Overall, the hotel is highly recommended for a short stay to see the historic sites.
“Excellent Hotel”
The Ottoman Hotel Imperial is located across a narrow coblestone street from the Hagia Sophia. We had a sultan category room that looked onto the Hagia Sophia which is lighted at night. Topkapi Palace was a two minute walk to the left out of the hotel and the Blue Mosque was five minutes to the right. For those who want to visit all of the sites in the old city it's an ideal location. It's also very well maintained and very comfortable - a solid four star hotel by American standards. Breakfast was included in the rate. It was served in a glass enclosed room on the second floor off the back of the hotel with views of rooftops, old buildings and a minaret or two. The breakfast items were mostly the same each day but the choices were quite extensive so we found plenty to like. The staff were very helpful with directions, booking airport transport and tickets to evening performances. They offered to arrange daytrips for us but we preferred to travel independently. Once we figured out the tram lines (with two stops very near the hotel) we were able to get around town fairly easily. If I return to Istanbul I would definitely consider staying at the hotel again. It was always nice to return to it at the end of a busy day sightseeing.
“WOW.......The Ottoman Hotel Imperial is Fantastic!!! Can't wait to go back!!”
The Ottoman Hotel Imperial is an amazing hotel in Istanbul. The location is perfect situated at the front of the St. Sofia in the heart of Sultanhamet. The staff was very helpful with any and all questions and made you feel very welcome to their amazing city. The property is very well maintained and the restaurant and breakfast were outstanding. I highly recommend this hotel in Istanbul!!
“great location and great stay”
We only had a couple of days in Istanbul and I wanted a nice hotel with a central location in Sultanahmet, close to all the major sites, and this filled the bill perfectly. We had a great room with a small balcony that looked out on the Aja Sofia and very short walks to the bazaar, Cistern, Blue Mosque and Topkapi. They put out a nice breakfast each day. Room sizes appear to vary, so inquire what you're going to be getting. We were more than pleased, but we may have been in the biggest and nicest room in the hotel for all we know. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and the room was spotless. It's a boutique hotel, and definitely not a chain, but a real Turkish experience, which we enjoyed. A great choice if you want to be right in the middle of Sultanahmet.
“perfect location!”
this hotel couldn't better situated in the historical district of istanbul in front of aya sofia (sorry if there is a spelling mistake) and 2 steps from the blue mosque. staff was friendly and food was good at the restaurant, especially the ''rosewater mastic'' dessert. internet cafe's connection was on and off, which was annoying to communicate back home however. Overall good experience!
“Loved the Ottomamon Imperial.”
Exceeded our expectations - incredible location, beautiful room, great buffet breakfast - the night desk manager was a gas! We resisted, but finally ate dinner in their sultan-recipe restaurant and it was abssolute superb food (just OK service). We even liked the toiletries provided. It was gracious, but not fussy - was there when you needed help, but not intrusive service. We liked it very much.
“nice comendation”
the hotel is in good place and the stufe were nice and they help me to bring my car to the hotel because it so deficult to go to the hotel by rental car drive it by your self. but dont take room in the street saide because the train will desturb you esoicaly in day time.
“Not impressed”
I was told that I was being placed in a better room, but the room I was given was: 1. Right next to the elevator; 2. Across the corridor from the maids' utility room. 3. Small To get to the bed, one had to strp down; while sleeping, one's ears were level with the un-carpeted noisy floors outside. The morning maid service ruckus created a challenge to stay asleep.
“Christmas break at the Ottoman”
My husband and I really enjoyed staying at the Ottoman Imperial. All the sites were a few minutes walk away. Great restaurants near by ( Albura Kathisma, Aloran and Imbat )as well as the tram which was about a 2 block walk to reach. Upon check in they gave us a couple of pieces of Turkish delight which was quite the treat! Great Hotel, great breakfast buffet (loved the olive pate) can easily reach the sites and you can venture out to less touristy areas using the tram.
“Great location in Sultanahmet”
The Ottoman Imperial is a boutique hotel located just in front of the Hagia Sophia museum, minutes away of the main attractions of Sultanahmet. All of them are at walking distance, so you will save some money on transportation. Also, Istanbul excellent tramway is just half a block away from the hotel main door, you can get to Beyoglu and other city areas in a few minutes. The neighborhood is very safe, it has lots of restaurants to choose from and many stores are open if you want to shop til late at night. The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained, it has been refurbished recently. However it is an old building converted into hotel, so our room was quite small and its layout a little odd, with 4 steps separating the room with the bathroom. The hotel has several more expensive options, which I suppose are much more comfortable. The breakfast was included in the rate, but it was subpar compared to what you get in other similar hotels in Europe. Overall a very good option based on quality / price / location criteria.
