Great hotel
Great location super convenient and close to multiple restaurants and coffee shops walkable little city and super hipster. We definitely liked this stay and the room was comfortable and quiet.

Superb location, clean and spacious rooms. Staff always friendly and polite. Lots of nice restaurants, cafes and shops nearby. Close to ferry and train station. Excellent value for money.

Great stay!
Great location. Friendly staff. Decent rooms. Super comfy beds! Restrooms are shared with just two or three other rooms, and they are cleaned daily & in good condition. Breakfast is good! Heads up— there are many flights of stairs depending on where your room is, but it’s not really an issue!

Good location, but staff were often absent so often not available to help with questions. Breakfast was nice, but started quite late and was in a rather small kitchen area. The room was nice with a large bed, but the duvet was too small for the bed.

Would recommend
Clean room, with interesting details, but with no view at all. Still, it was pleasant to stay with my wife and two small kids. Breakfast ok. Host helpful, English speaking. Bit hard to reach by car, you need to cruise couple inches away from restaurants tables and crowd, but parking lot close enough (charge 30 TL per day or better say half a day). Bunch of restaurants and cafes in the same street. Close to Galata bridge.

Good value for Central location
It is a budget accommodation with a central location. Five minutes walk to Galata, 3 minutes to tram station and just 2 minutes to a large tram station that brings you almost anywhere. The rooms and breakfast are quite basic though. Some rooms come without bathrooms so read carefully when booking. Cleanliness is moderate, provisions basic. But price and location is prime so depends on what you prioritize. We had a decently comfortable sleep, nothing to write home about other than that.

I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. My expectations were exceeded. The hotel's décor was very trendy, in good condition and extremely clean. My room was lovely, although it was a little bit cold despite two duvets. I was thrilled to receive free branded slippers bottled water and Turkish delights in my room on arrival. The main member of staff was extremely welcoming and friendly which was very important to me because I was travelling solo. The hotel was in an excellent location close to the Karakoy ferry terminal and not far from Galata Tower and had a convenience store directly opposite. The breakfast that I received was beautiful and really set me up for the day. The breakfast room could be used at any time of the day and had a television fridge and kettle facilities. There was also free wifi in this area – I couldn’t manage to get this to work in my room. I have no complaints whatsoever and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Great time in Instanbul
My friends and I stayed here for 5 days while visiting Instanbul. We were looking for somewhere nice, good location, and affordable. Portus House met all our expectations! The staff was super helpful in helping with planning our activities and answering all the questions we had. We got the family connecting room which slept 5. There was 4 of us so it was perfect. We had a private bathroom and shower. There was free breakfast and tea everyday no matter what time you rolled downstairs. The location was very central to trams and the sites. The area is also in a very trendy area with bars and restaurants. I would stay here again! Great for groups!

I really felt like I'm at home :)
The service was great like in a real hotel and half the price in fact there was no difference from a hotel. The staff is very polite and will answer any question about the city. Rooms are cozy and bathroom/toilet really clean. There is free wi-fi and the breakfast was awesome. The location is in the hip area of Karaköy full with bars, shops and nice restaurants. Galata bridge is only 5 min walking and Hagia Sophia another 10min or 3 stops with the fast tram. If you want to try something different the ferry for the asian side of Istanbul departs basically in front of Portus House. If I go to Istanbul again I'd go to Portus I really felt like I'm at home.

short stay for wedding anniversary
Everything was perfect. We knew the location in Karakoy beforehand, it's perfect for our needs in Istanbul, close to everywhere (old town, taksim, ferry, tram, etc.), and with a reasonable parking garage closeby as well. The hotel is very small, staff is very friendly. I had sent a brief message beforehand telling that our stay was for our anniversary and they put a rose in our room and did some nice heart arrangements with the towels. Also upon arrival staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was really spacious, nicely set up, very clean, bed comfortable, bathroom fine - so all in all, the stay was perfect. Also price is very reasonable. Thanks again, specifically to Lutfi and Ali! Best wishes

The hotel was perfectly fine, but nothing special. When we arrived they couldn't find the booking for a while which was slightly disconcerting, but got it in the end. Our room had quite a lot of mosquitos buzzing around that kept us up, netting would've been helpful.

Portus House seems to be somewhere between a hostel and a hotel. The staff was friendly and multilingual Our en-suite room was small for the price but clean. The neighborhood is in transition with good services, restaurants, markets and entertainment, and very handy to everything. For the money I expected the typical breakfast spread available at most hotels in Turkey, this one was modest but good. There is no laundry on site for guest use as the website says. Hot water was interrupted twice during our stay. Portus house might be a better value for families that need the extra beds and can share services.

A night stay before Black Sea Cruise
The only thing not so hot was our room was located at the 4th floor. They do help with luggage. Otherwise, it is quite a good location to explore old town. ( Need bring with you a lot of $ bills to tip. You don't have to, but being an American....) You will pass a hug supermarket /restaurants, before reach the B & B. It is not a walking distance to cruise port with luggage. They will call taxi for you and tell you not to pay more than 10TL a car no matter what the driver has to say (Good advice! The one we rode to the port gave the infamous reputation to Turkish Taxi Drivers! Pesky and greedy! Thank goodness the ride was short.).

Portus is a small hotel in the Karakoy area. I like the location close to the Galata Bridge, the Bosphorus, and many of Istanbul's main attractions to visitors. The hotel doesn't have an elevator and that is a minus for the elder or the handicapped. Breakfast is very limited and the quality of the offering needs to be improved. Finally, I found the bed to be uncomfortable and the rooms exposed to noise both from the interior of the hotel and to the outside. I'd give it a 3 out of 5.

Nice and cozy
I enjoyed staying at Portus House a lot. It's a small and cozy hotel. The neighborhood is really quiet! Which is a significant for Istanbul as far as I know. Even muezzin was not very loud. The pier and tram station is really close, you can get to any part of the city very quickly and it's walking distance from Galata tower. 10-15 minutes walk. I definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is located near the Karakoy harbor, and 5 minutes walk from the tram station. Its nice cozy place, with very very helpful reception staff. The rooms are extremely clean but pretty average, with serious space constraint. The breakfast is available 24 hours (self-service). There is no room service option - you have to climb down to the reception for any requirement. Also, the neighbourhood is pretty average. Overall - a decent value for money option.

Stylish Hotel
The hotel is decorated in a stylish way. Though we have to share bathroom and toilet with another room, everything is clean. We arrived early by overnight bus and the staff was nice and served us with coffee/tea and also let us check in early. Only a little complaint is that the stairs of the hotel are long and narrow. If you bring suitcase with you, it is a bit hard to carry it to your room.

Great hotel in an ecletic part of the city
Living as an expat in Istanbul, I choose this hotel for is location and comfort. Karakoy is an old area of the city that has recently seen an influx of boutique restaurants and bars and the hotel is right in the middle of them all. Additionally, it's a short walk to Galata and Sultanamet--both must see areas for sights and nightlife. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly. We were able to have a small party in the communal kitchen where we enjoyed fruity cocktails before our night out. I definitely recommend this hotel!

Good budget hotel for what we need
The location is right next to metro, ferry, bridge and some attractions, though for the same price the hotel quality seemed much better in the old town, it's relatively convenient in this area if you want to go out at night for something fun. Though it's a 'small' hotel with narrow stairs, narrow bedroom and narrow shower space, it's sufficient and cozy if you just need a place to sleep overnight. The breakfast is very basic, a few pieces of breads, cucumber, tomato and some juice and milk. The staff are very kind and helpful.

Room is acceptable. Nothing inadequate or wanting, just don't expect much comfort. They serve a very nice turkish breakfast which comes with the room. Staff is quite friendly and helpful. Best part about the hotel is the location. Near the water (for cruises or ferry), very good restaurants, and bus/tram stops. Also near Galata bridge which is a great starting point for touring the city.

A modern hostle in an old building, quite clean and kind of like IKEA, not the countryside style, but the modern style. Good location, just near the sea, the tram station and some nice restaurant, also a super market too. There seems to be a really famous dessert shop nearby, we tried it and it was really really sweet!! maybe the sweetest thing i have ever have, but one should try it at least once as a special Turkey experience. try to book the room with individual bathroom, it cost a little more but totally worth it. staffs there are wonderful too.

Yo reservé en la zona de KARIKOY, al llegar al hostel no tenían constancia de la reserva hecha 6 meses atrás.... Se excusaron por cambio del sistema informático!!! Nos desplazaron en taxi en otro hostel de misma cadena al otro lado del Bósforo, el cual no teníamos la habitación en el mismo hostel sinó que teníamos que desplazarnos dos calles arriba para dormir y volver al otro para desayunar!!!! Eso sí.... La ubicación de 10, estábamos a dos minutos de la Mezquita Azul y el centro histórico!!! La habitación, muy limpia!!! Si vuelvo a Estambul, volvería al mismo establecimiento del barrio de Luthanamet

Die Lage des Cheers Porthouse ist super um Abends auszugehen. Dadurch ist es etwas lauter wenn man schlafen möchte. Hat uns aber nicht gestört. Und auch so war es sehr zentral gelegen für unsere Unternehmungen.
