Excellent position

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: The position and the staff
Cons: Personally I would like a sheet between me and the cotton blanket on the bed.
Location: As said before, great location for Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palac, the port with cruises around Bosphorus and many reataurants
The Q Inn Hotel is positioned right in the middle of old city, yet tucked away from traffic. It is within walking distance to Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Grand Bazaar. The hotel room itself was little disappointing, looking little tired. The staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful, they have an iPad charger or an umbrella when you need one! Not everyone spoke English though, but overall they were all very polite and happy to listen and help and that made up for the slightly old looking room and bathroom.

Great Location, Good Hotel

Posted Jan 8, 2014 on Hotels.com
The staff was awesome. They were always there and ready to provide guidance, help or advice. The property isn't great but there is significant construction across the street that makes it hard to determine what it looks like normally. The location is very good for seeing the Old City as all the highlights are within walking distance. The hotel offered a car to-from the airport over email prior to our arrival for 100 TRY each way - well worth it. Breakfast was very good with items representing world wide tastes. If you aren't focused on the Old City this hotel location is not for you.

Excellent value in Old City Istanbul

Posted Nov 18, 2013
Pros: Just about everything.
Location: Close (5-10 min walk) to the top end of the Old City's Hippodrome attractions: Haggia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, Archeology Museum, Underground Cistern.
Can highly recommend this little hotel. I had stayed at another small Istanbul hotel for about the same price and found that stay to be a complete disaster. Just the opposite for Q City Inn. Arrived early after disembarking from a cruise ship. Staff had taken my two heavy cases up to my room when I returned after several hours away for a Bosporus cruise. Room was immaculate, bed very comfortable, TV had literally hundreds of cable/satellite channels. Did not get a chance to try out their free Wi-Fi because my laptop had failed during my cruise. A very good breakfast buffet included in the modest room rate completed an excellent stay.

Great all-rounder

Posted Jul 6, 2013
Pros: location, service, breakfast
Cons: internet was unstable on our floor, but good in the lobby
Location: small lane off of tram line tracks
We booked a triple room and absolutely enjoyed our stay there. The location was excellent, between Sirkeci tram station and Gulhane tram station. Google maps doesn't show the tram line correctly. The tram line goes through H├╝davendigar Caddesi, and Q Inn is just off of this street. The taxi driver should be told this rather than the formal address of the hotel, as it is a tiny lane off H├╝davendigar Caddesi. You can hear the tram in the rooms, but not in a loud or bothersome way. The room was very comfortable. The shower was powerful and we had very hot water at all times. The breakfast was excellent. Selection of fresh fruits, yogurts, cheeses, breads, cereals, jams, hot/cold drinks, and usually 3 hot dishes (one is always boiled egg). The lobby is very spacious and very well decorated. There is a separate sitting area away from the reception. Wonderful for meeting friends. Staff very courteous... wonderful service: someone always comes to the room to resolve any problems rather than telling us to go to reception. Tips: 1.It is possible to cut through Gulhane park to get to Topkapi on foot. 2.There is a free shuttle going up to Topkapi. 3.It is uphill to Hagia Sofia and Sultanahmet. Recommend the tram despite short distance. 4. 5 min. to Hocapasa Cultural Center... the 9pm dances were fantastic. Street off this cultural center has nice restaurants that were still open after our show ended. 5.Mosque by Eminonu is more elaborate inside than Sultahnamet ! Spice bazaar behind .

An excellent midrange hotel

Posted Jun 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Loved it! Walk everywhere! Staff very helpful. Early am (5) transport provided by hotel was prompt. Best was the mattresses: very comfortable (we slept 14 jetlagged hours the first night!). Only drawback was noise outside, but that was reasonable with window closed. Staff exceptionally friendly.
