Very bad experience. AVOID!!!Posted Sep 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
My friend and I recently booked 2 rooms for 2 nights at the Serenity Hotel in Istanbul via hotel.com. They messed up the booking and only had one room when we arrived. This was disappointing as we booked months in advance. I wanted to look for another hotel but the owner offered to cover the cost for the first night at one of his friend's hotels. He would have a room at the Serenity for the second night. Bad move. The room in the other hotel was awful - tiny, smelly, had a shower which was over the toilet (size of a toilet in a plane) and the room lock didn't work. They did have a room for me at the Serenity on the 2nd day. The biggest problem was at check out. They reneged on their offer to pay for the alternative sub-standard room in the other hotel. Even worse - they charged me the full price for one their rooms. I disputed this. This where it got nasty. The manager pushed me and made a grab for my wallet. I managed to fend him off, He then grabbed my daypack and threw it against the wall damaging my laptop inside. I was quite shaken by this and his verbal abuse so I just paid the bill and got out of there as quickly as possible. I would have gone to the police but I only had an hour to get to the airport. Turkish people are great and I love Turkey but please be wary of this hotel. The next customer may not be as fortunate to leave only with a bruised arm and a hefty laptop repair bill.

Excellent location, affordable budget accommodatioPosted Aug 22, 2013
Cons: Toilet needs serious renovation.
Location: Sutanmet is the center of all major attractions in Istanbul.
Location is excellent close to most of the attractions in old Istanbul (Sultanmet). Room cleanliness is fine. As mentioned by other stayers the shower leaks sometimes. Desk staffs are helpful and tried their best to get you whatever information you need but sometimes try to avoid responsibility such as TV in my room was not showing any cable channels and not fixed even after two complains until the night before I checked out, I had to figure out what's wrong and fix it myself. Other than this the stay was pleasant.

Good, but our room was too small.Posted Jun 27, 2011
I travelled with my wife and overall we were satisfied. This is a small hotel, with limited lobby space, and the room was also really small. Luckily, our luggage were two carry on, but if you take a normal piece of luggage, you will soon fine your space to move inside the room is limited.
