The hotel is very opulent and managed to an extremely high standard. The staff are all very friendly and always going out of their way to ensure your stay is extra special. Our stay was awesome and the facilitates are second to none. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're looking for something extra special.

The only bad side is that the hotel rooms have no balcony on the bosphore and if u stay at the first floor you have no privacy since the boats are overlooking ur room .

Pros: The staff.
Cons: The management/ owners need to go to other 5 star hotels and compare notes.
Location: Not much unfortunately. Taxis are not expensive so you can always get into a cab. We managed this very well.
A bit too glitzy for my liking. In photographs it almost looks as if the hotel is on the Bosphorus but it is not. It is an illusion! There is a road in between and a Ferry Port. From the outside it is not a good looking hotel, inside it is comfortable and expensive to look at but I prefer a stylish hotel where colours and lighting are subdued and in hues of browns and beige. Earthy colours. For some it may be a look of luxury but I felt it was too 'shiny', too new. The restaurant needs to be busy for it to be interesting...a little too quiet. It is a new hotel so it may need more time to become better. The staff were amazing. Starting from the welcome we received to the Concierge desk who could not do enough for us. On the whole I could not fault it but I am not sure I would stay here again.

Since I have stayed at multiple Shangri-La throughout the world let me do two reviews. As a general hotel it is nice enough. I would place it as a standard Hilton or Marriott at any large US city. Nothing special or groundbreaking. Compared to the Shangri-La elsewhere in the world this place should be renamed ASAP. I paid for the Deluxe Bosphorus Room and was given a room with a partial view at best. The room had stains on the furniture and carpet (big ones) which is very unacceptable for this chain. The cleaning crew came at 0930 or not at all. When they did come you best be sure your do not disturb is on as you get 3 seconds after their knock to lock the door...they are coming in. 2 bottles of water in a country the tap water isn't exactly drinkable. Constant calls to confirm things. Disorganization in all ways. The Bar is enjoyable enough, though like most of the hotel, English is spotty at best. Even German and Dutch were not usable. The hotel is an area outside the main attractions so get ready to do some walking or slow Istanbul traffic fighting. My recommendation is head somewhere else till these guys figure out how to be a nicer hotel.
