Lovely StaffPosted Oct 17, 2014
Pros: Friendly helpful staff, clean and welcoming. Great location.
Cons: better lighting in the bedroom.
Location: Old city location perfect for visiting Topkapi Palace,Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Grand bazaar etc
The Ambassador is a small hotel in a wonderful location for visiting the old city. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.Transport around the city is on the doorstep. A most welcome complementary cup of apple tea and cake is offered every afternoon. The room was slightly on the small side but had all we needed and was very clean with en-suite, the room was also a bit dark but we spent little time there. I will choose to stay there again, the breakfast was lovely and the view from the terrace was amazing,of the Blue Mosque. My husband and I had a most enjoyable weeks stay and are looking forward to going back soon.A little gem tucked away right in the middle of things.

Great location & terrace.Posted Oct 14, 2014
Start and end day with an amazing view across the Bosphorus from the terrace. Hotel location great and very walkable down to Golden Horn or tram, which stops outside hotel. Hotel itself ordinary but perfectly adequate and clean. Call to prayer at 6am could be an issue for light sleepers!

BEST HOTEL IN SULTANAHMET!Posted Oct 8, 2014
This was the best experience I've had in Istanbul yet. Having an amazing hotel/homebase really made the trip better. It's location was perfect. It was quiet even during rush hour. The call to prayer was quieter also, but it's such a beautiful thing to hear anyways. The staff spoke many languages and were familiar with American culture. They were also very hospitable, always offering free tea, coffee and suggestions or directions. The terrace was a great part of the hotel - the view is the best in all of SultanAhmet. The breakfast on the terrace was phenomenal and the waiter Sezgin was very friendly. I WILL 100% RETURN TO THIS HOTEL!!! :) :) :)

Hidden Gem value for moneyPosted Oct 4, 2014
Caters well for needs of tourists, helpful and very obliging multilingual staff who had a high level of English. Central to Sultanahmet area tucked away off a tiny lane off a narrow restaurant lined street. Great views of blue mosque from restaurant on 5th level, freshly cooked breakfasts (eggs and pancakes) and nice spa, good level of in room facilities. May need earplugs if you are a light sleeper due to some adjoining room noise. Only 5 rooms per level. Felt safe and secure. Within walking distance of major tourist attractions. Free wifi plus access to computer and printing service. Nice lobby and bar area plus free afternoon tea provided . Our room, which was a triple had adequate amount of space to move around in, was simply furnished with small dining table and chairs and three single comfortable beds. Cabbie had trouble getting to street but staff came to meet us despite being two streets away and helped with bags etc. Shuttle service to airport 25 euros for 2 passengers. Of the four hotels we stayed in in Turkey this one impressed me most for value for money and it's user friendliness. I would be happy to stay there again

Great hotel in a very central locationPosted Sep 16, 2014
Pros: The staff and theviews from the rooftop terrace
Location: You are only a stones throw from all the major tourist attractions including the main terminus for the city sightseeing tour buses.
Fantastic little hotel right in the heart of the old town of Istanbul. The staff are really helpful and the rooftop terrace provides stunning views across the old city. The rooms are small but this is not unusual for city centre hotels and they are equipped with individual safes and iron/ironing board as well as minibar etc. Free wifi is available in the hotel too. Breakfast on the rooftop terrace is lovely and there are plenty of bars and restaurants close by to suit all tastes and pockets.

Simply a great HotelPosted Sep 15, 2014
The Ambassador is very well located and near all Istanbul's major tourist attractions - the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, the Badilica Cisterns, the Palace and the grand Bazaar and Egyptian Spice markets are all within easy walking distance. We arrived after having driven back to Istanbul from the Gallipoli Peninsula. The reception was first rate - we were offered a refreshing cup of Apple Tea and a slice of cake. There was no rush as all efforts were focused on us and making us feel welcome. It was a wonderful reception. Our family room was clean and very comfortable and located on the fifth floor so adjacent to the rooftop breakfast area. Breakfast was easily the best we have had in Turkey. The selection and quality of fresh foods was simply superior to anything else we have experienced thus far and when mixed with the magnificent views of both the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia, makes for a brilliant way to start the day of this amazing city. A special thank you to the staff who were outstanding. I was a little skeptical of the hotel's claim regarding 'repeat business' but can now attest that we would certainly, when next in Istanbul, look at staying at the Ambassador again.
