“Not so happy”
The only reason we stayed here was because it was the only hotel that had a room available at the last minute!! It took over 35 minutes to check in. The ceiling over the toilet leaked when the person(s) on the floor above us ran water. The parking lot had potholes the size of small craters. The walls & doors were so thin - we heard people walking up and down the halls and doors slamming.
“The parking lot is "gorges."”
I go to Ithaca to see the Gorges. I didn't expect to find them in the hotel parking lot. First impressions mean a lot, and Clarion would be wise to consider the impression this hotel makes. The ragged parking lot, dated decor, and carpetless entryways belong to a dingy motor lodge along Rte 66. A hotel that charges Ivy-league rates in an Ivy League town needs to be better maintained. That said, the room itself was clean and comfortable. Just not worth the price.
“Not bad overall”
Our visit to the Clarion was not bad overall. The hotel was tidy though had a musty smell about it and was really in need of a decor update. The parking lot was a disaster. Full of huge potholes that made us wonder how the hotel would be inside. Our room was clean and cozy, though we did have a bit of a challenge with the entry card at first. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the wireless internet to work which was frustrating. We did enjoy the breakfast the next morning though so all in all our stay wasn't unpleasant.
“Very Rundown, with casual security”
We had stayed here 1-2 years ago, and it wasn't too bad, but it has definitely changed. It's now very rundown, with stained carpeting, outside doors without keys, and always unlocked, and the parking lot had huge water-filled potholes. There were also several buses idling outside throughout the night. We did not eat there, but walked over to a nearby local restaurant/bakery instead, which we knew was good. One of the bed lights was broken, and we couldn't find anyone when it was time to check out. However, the beds were extremely comfortable, with good pillows and bedding, and the air conditioning worked well. It was convenient for us, and we took our dog, which was helpful, but we would stay elsewhere in the future.
“Irritating”
The motel was old and warn. The parking lot was not well kept or even well plowed of snow. It was not the greatest experience.
“Clarion”
When I arrived, there wre not any cars and the parking lot was full of potholes. I thought the holel was abandoned. But I found the lobby and it was open. The place looks like it is being refurbished. Many nice features but they are not used, the room was comfortable and clean.
“Good Value For The Money”
The hotel is well located, staff friendly, and the rooms decent. The property is showing its age (especially the parking lot, which has many potholes) so don't expect new and fancy. However, it's clean and well-maintained, and is priced for travelers on a budget.
“Not Going Back”
We thought the motel was condemned/abandoned when we drove up. The completely empty parking lot was a mass of huge potholes. The interior of the motel smelled like an ashtray, and was old, shabby and unkempt. We were quite shocked at the whole condition. It appears (to us) that this motel is in the process of being shut down, and we would not recommend it to anyone.
“Needs upgrading + remodeling”
(1) When we entered the room we noted a burned area on the carpet. The burn was in the shape of an iron. (2) The bathroom was not clean: bathtub had not been rinsed or cleaned as we saw hairs all over the tub, the prior guest's shampoo + soap remained in the shower, and the dispenser for facial tissues was empty. (<----stayed empty for our stay) (3) The TV was not working at all. I called the front desk and was told to flip the left switch located at the entrance door. That did make the TV work, but why not have a sign with info. (4) No channel guide for the TV. (5) No extra toilet paper was present in the bathroom so we had to call on the evening of our 2nd day to request some. Two and a half hours later none had been brought to us. I called the front desk again and a woman promptly brought 2 rolls stating, "I've been really busy at the desk." There is just ONE hotel employee present? (6) Our keycards did not work so we had to request a 2nd set. (7) Two of the front desk employees had very poor interpersonal skills--no eye contact, flat affect, no smile, and seemingly unhappy. (8) The hotel, both inside and outside, needs remodeling + upgrading. The view from the front reveals a sterile looking building with no landscaping. (9) The hotel SMELLS--especially the first floor hallways--smoke, dirt, mildew. The positives: -reasonable price -plenty of parking -easy access to major routes -mall + other stores are very close by
“Disgusting, should be condemned.”
Totally disgusted when I think about the night that we had there. This hotel should be condemned. Beginning with the outside, the parking lot, the swimming pool (which I wouldn't have dared enter) the hallways and especially the rooms. It is run down, dirty, and smells. Black mold was growing on our bathroom ceiling and water started dripping on to the toilet in the morning. The ceiling eventually cracked and water was leaking heavily into the bathroom. I felt sick after staying there which was luckily only 1 night and never again.
