This hotel needs a renovation

This hotel badly needs a renovation. Lots of scratched doors and walls. Tiles in shower falling out and paint chipping. For the cost I would expect a cleaner more up to date hotel.

Pros: Employees were great!
Location: Within walking distance to the mall.
Overall a decent room, but not great. Wallpaper was peeling in several places.

Cons: Either lower the price or renew.
Too expensive. Needs urgent renewal. At this price level one should expect better accommodations, an A/C that actually works. Better pillows, etc. Seems they haven't invested in the rooms for over 30 years. Location is good. Staff is courteous.

Pros: Staff is generally very nice and helpful. Conveniently located.
I have stayed at the Beacon before. I think it's not as good as it used to be. The air conditioning system is noisy. I could hear a lot of noise from the room next door. The lay-out of my particular room was quite cramped. Not all of the lights worked.

Green pool water

The pool was merky green and there was not a hot tub or kids pool as advertised. The bathroom had Spiderwebs around the baseboard and the countertop. I emailed, as directed by memo on tabletop, the general manager and never received an answer. Ice maker didn't work.

Cons: requires updating
Our stay was pleasant. The room was clean and quiet and centrally located to shopping centre, highway and restaurants. It could do with updating but the cost reflected the style of hotel.

Hotel in long term decline

Not clean, not maintained, dilapidated. For example, the ice machine was missing the front cover and showed its electronics. The hallways weren't air-conditioned at 90+ degrees. Even the kids commented the pool hadn't been cleaned since who knows when.

Hotel is run-down and should not have star rating

Cons: to the owner: sell or renovate
Location: There is nothing to do near by. But if you have meetings at Cornell, its manageable.
It was the only hotel with rooms available in Ithaca. To charge $175 a night for a run-down hotel that visibly did not undergo renovations the past 30 years is outrageous.

Will not go again

Facility is old, phone was broken, called for service and nothing was fixed. Internet was terribly slow.
