Paradise in IxtapaPosted Oct 6, 2013
Pros: The infinity pool. Spent a lot of time there.
Cons: There could be a little more imagination on a day to day basis for breakfast and lunch. Pretty soon, they started to taste the same.
Location: Snorkeling, fishing and kayaking. Go to Ixtapa Island; you don't need the higher priced excursion tours.
Beautiful, clean, new resort; great view out of all rooms; wonderful, warm staff; good food; ample alcohol; not over-run with children (not that I don't love children but not on my adult vacation). The spa is to die for. Close to Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo (we preferred the smaller Ixtapa) by bus. We were here 9 nights (survived tropical storm Manuel) and plan to return with our family. If you like all-inclusives, this Azul Grande is a sure bet.

modern with a great view,Posted Feb 12, 2013
Pros: tamarindo margarita, buffet was good, hamburgers at snack bar
Cons: la cueva bar was closed the whole time we were there. beautiful but not able to enjoy
Location: minutes away from downtown
I was disappointed with the beach area, it is small and rocky, but it does have 3 great pools. to enjoy the beach you have to walk over and cross bridge over to sister hotel. show entertainment was held at the sister resort, but we were not allowed to use their facilities, food, drinks or disco even though we stayed at the grand. azul lounge was great, colorful and comfortable. great service, staff was very attentive and accomodating. italian restaurant was not that great, but asian and mexican were delicious. facililty was very well kept, clean, spotless. enjoyed watching the sunsets from balcony. enjoyed live band at lounge, bicycle tour

Azul Grand is grand!Posted Feb 1, 2013
Pros: amazing view, luxurious rooms, staff that go out of their way in customer service. Close to beautiful beaches and handy for local buses (cheap!)
Cons: Buffet could be improved
This is a brand new hotel and as such first impressions of this hotel were great. The room, location, ocean view from every room overlooking Ixtapa Island were outstanding. When we arrived the hotel was not full and most of the vacationers were Mexican families and everyone was pleasant and having a good time. The hotel initially advertised "adult only" but due to lack of reservations they opened up to families with children. I hope with better advertising the numbers will increase and they can go back to this format. The sister hotel next to the property welcomes all families. I can't say enough about the staff; they put so much effort into making your stay wonderful. The servers Oscar and Antonio were amazing! Not all the specialty restaurants were open for dinner, again due to lack of hotel patrons, and rotated as to what was available. The food was very good at these restaurants. The all day buffet got tired; needed more variety and fresher food. The freshly squeezed fruit juices for breakfast were delicious! Service around the pool was excellent and attentive. This hotel has a boardwalk close by that takes you a beach which is in walking distance to the pier where you can take a water taxi for 40 pesos -return- to check out Ixtapa Island. This hotel has potential to be a fully operational beautiful resort, just need to market better to international travellers - have a website in English dedicated to the hotel.

If you wan peace & quiet don't goPosted Dec 31, 2012
Cons: food, peacefulness, beach
Location: property is small, caters to children,
To start with, this nproperty advertised adults only resort & spa, well one week prior to our arrival this new propertu decided to open tp families so when we arrive it was like entering into chuckie cheeses kids circus plus there os no SPA at this property. The beach is nothing, without lounges, palapas or drink service but why would you want to spend time at this "beach" anyway. There is only 2 restaurants there are only 2 restaurants open Mexican and / or alternating Italian or Japanese for dinner both where the food is just adequate. The bufet is open for B, L,D again and feels, looks and taste like a hospital cafeteria only louder with all th yell in screaming kids, this is not to say I don't like children but I don't have any and enjoy peace and quiet when on vacation. The hotl is clean with beautiful sunsets however if you want some class, good food, peace and quiet and spa service go to a different property.

Best View in IxtapaPosted Dec 5, 2012
Pros: Infiniti Pool
Cons: Beach is just o.k. There is a boardwalk connecting to the next property and prettier beaches beyond.
Location: A little further out..10 minutes from Ixtapa, 20 minutes from Zihautenajo.
The Azul Ixtapa Grand Suites Resort is a beautiful property and I would definitely recommend it as the best vacation spot in Ixtapa. It is brand new and needs more visitors. It felt like a big empty mansion, just ready and waiting to be seen. I hope that is soon bustling with vacationers, but if you go now, you will pretty much have the whole place to yourself. The staff could not have been nicer nor more attentive. The fact that the hotel was practcially empty creates only one drawback, which is the restaurant choices were very limited because they only offered one option for dinner each night. The other things that you should be aware of in choosing this property is that the spa is still under construction, there is no mini golf, and we never found the gym. All of the ammenities that are advertised are not quite ready. The best thing about this property were the grounds, the beautiful infinity pool, and the view of Ixtapa Island. Just walk 10 minutes down the beach to the pier, get a water taxi for 40 pesos, and go on your own. You will be greeted by the restuarant owners who will assist you find a spot in the shade, a cold drink and lunch, massage, snorkeling, and you can even do some shopping. Take some pesos. Book a snorkeling trip or a sunset cruise on the Picante Catamaran. It sails out of Zihautenajo. We enjoyed the shopping for souveniers better in Zihau because it seems like a quaint Mexican town. Shop keepers are very humble and not at all like in Cancun.

Nice hotel for a couple once it is completedPosted Nov 19, 2012
Pros: comfort was my favorite
Cons: not enough available yet for activities and restuarants
Location: nice location
Hotel was very nice. But the hotel is to new and is lacking many of it's amenities. There are no shows at the location yet. No pool activities. most restaurants are not open yet. No public phones or computer service. no music entertainment. these are all items that were advertised as being available at this resort. I'm sure it will be a very nice resort once they get all the bugs out of this new opening. So I would recommend to wait for a later date when more is available.

Great New Grand All Suite Hotel for Adults OnlyPosted Oct 2, 2012
Pros: Three very large Pools and 7 Jacuzzis, but also in Room Jacuzzi.
Cons: Having to reserve activities
Location: Great Private Beach
It takes guts It is very refreshing when a Property owner has the guts to take over their property from a Professional Spanish Operator and then open a new Premium “Grand” property, the traditional Family oriented Azul, has now an upscale Cousin Grand Azul. Do not be deceived by the name as part of the Cruz Azul Family (Cement & Soccer Team), operation is run by Family members who are very Professional & Proactive, they are looking to offer the best possible “Grand” experience not be found elsewhere in the Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa Location, it is Adult Couples Only. The Agave Specialty Restaurant will compete with Mexico’s City’s Trendies restaurants; do not miss the Lettuce Salad with Chipotle Dressing, the Robalo, or the Coconut Flan. The Asian Restaurant serves up to date Fusion Asian/Mexican, Sushi is OK but main courses are not to be missed. The Lobby Bar is huge has a lot of LCD’s and you can play Pool, nice. If you want to Party you may want to scoot over to the Sister Hotel’s Azul for their Sea Breeze Lounge directly on the Sea, you almost Partying over the Sea, felt more like a Cruise Ship Night Club. Too bad it closes at 1 a.m. it is still a Family oriented Hotel.
