Excessive steps with circuitous accessibiltyPosted Nov 26, 2013
Pros: Nothing except views.
Cons: More detail of the setting.
Location: Excellent location on Laropa beach
I am very unhappy with expedias recommendation. It is not a user friendly place. The a/c did not work, the beds were very hard. The lobby is on upper level with many many steps to most rooms. 172 steps from restaurant to beach. No bathroom at beach. No pool bar. The room was located on MID level with many steps to bar and then more steps to restaurant. We left 5days early and paid out of pocket for 6nights at VILLA MEXICANNA next door which was very accommodating. I will not be using Expedia again. We spent additional $654 to be happy. We are not newcomers to Mexico (22 years)

Beautiful beach, great views from rooms.Posted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: The food is great, all the staff very nice.
Cons: The bed needs to be softer, spoke to other guests and they said the same.
Location: We visited Los Gatos beach, went downtown to shop, and had a wonderful dinner at The Mediterranean Restraunt .

Pleasant experience.Posted Oct 30, 2013
We were pleased to find a pet friendly hotel with such a wonderful atmosphere. The private beachfront and pool areas were always clean and welcoming. The staff were attentive, friendly and presented themselves in very hospitable manner. The rooms were spacious and accomadating. Ours had a TV; it was old but worked when the distraction was needed. We had an airconditioner and ceiling fan that provided a welcome relief from the temperatures and humidity. The old school beds were very firm... Which is normal to find in traditional Mexican accomadations. The food was the best we have had anywhere in our travels of Mexico. The Catalina can take Great pride in the area of culinary presentation. We enjoyed every mouthful, every time and we took all of our meals in house.

Quiet, no hassle, not crowdedPosted Jul 30, 2013
Pros: Beach area has enough chaises & lounges for guests.
Cons: Door & window clearances with floor & walls not tight; bugs manage to get thru inside.
Location: Summertime warm weather, easy to sail right on the bay.
We like quietness, uncrowded areas, private beach area, overall we'll kept.

Nice hotel in a beautiful setting.Posted Jul 23, 2013
Pros: Close to the beach. Beautiful setting. Good food.
Cons: Upgrade faucets. Provide wash clothes, as well as larger towels. Check to make sure fans work before occupied.
Location: Close to a beautiful beach. Water sports, excursions, restaurants, and massages are readily available. Close to market and shopping down town.
Service was excellent. Whenever we needed assistance, we received it quickly. Great cook!

The beach was nice but the water was somewhat trashy. Floating plastic, bottles. None on the sand though. The pool was nice too. But room shower head was so old water sprayed everywhere. The toilet would not flush properly. Sink was old. Didn't trust the tap water at all and no bottle water in the room. It's a hotel for locals but there were some other vacationers there. Restaurants good at adjacent hotels on beach too.

I wish we would have upgradedPosted May 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed in the Little Casita room and were very disappointed. If we had known how small, hot and uncomfortable the room would be, we would have upgraded to a bigger room with a/c or stayed somewhere else. This was definitely a "no frills resort" with a lot of things run down. We were happy with the food at the restaurant.
