Good hotel for the money spentPosted Mar 8, 2014
Pros: On the beach, pool.
Location: Lots of restaurants, walking path, cheap-easy bus ride to Zihuantanejo.
Hotel is situated at the end of hotel zone. On weekends expect the hotel to be full with locals....this is not a bad thing. Did not have breakfast at this hotel, did have lunch daily … the food was quite good. Had a few suppers as well, but with so many restaurants in Ixtapa decided to go out. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Overall a good hotel.

Nice stay in IxtapaPosted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: It had a nice restaurant and pool area
Cons: There are two pools there. I would suggest one should be adults only. If not all the time, at least from about 6pm on.
Location: Close to the marina golf course and a nice walk into the restaurant area.
We were pleased with our stay at the Posada Real. We felt it was good value for the money. Nothing fancy, but a nice clean hotel on a beautiful beach.

Adequate for the price!Posted Feb 22, 2014
Pros: Easy access to the ocean, beach, and pools. Only minimal daily "booking" lounge chairs v early with towels by some guests -- a big problem elsewhere.
Cons: Ventilation in bathrooms. Better preparation of more expensive dishes offered. A few more shady areas near pool!
Location: Is close to the centre of the "Hotel Zone". Interesting tours of nearby islands; old town of Zihuatanejo nearby; and archaeological dig (1 hr away).
My wife and I both have walking problems, so it was a relief to discover a minimal use of steps to move oneself around the whole facility. Gentle slopes connected the 2 pools, the dining room, the main building and the beach. Only the main entrance had a flight of steps, but these, too, could be circumvented. There was an adequate choice of dishes for each meal, but the "high end" offerings were somewhat disappointing in flavour. Simpler offerings, like salads, soups, or the usual breakfast dishes, were tasty. All drinks were included in the basic rate, and it was nice to see that none of the guests appeared to abuse this system. The place is obviously oldish, but our rooms had been recently painted, and looked and smelled fresh. The rooms were small, and the bathrooms tiny and not ventilated, which led to a "clammy" feeling long after one took a shower! The air conditioner was VERY quiet. The staff was always extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. The various music players in the evenings always stopped promptly at 10 pm, so there was no noise problem at night. Overall, the 8 nights we spent there were reasonably comfortable and pleasant for the price.

Posada RealPosted Feb 15, 2014
Pros: Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, free WIFI, good pool.
Cons: Rooms Ok, clean, need a fridge, needs complimentary bottled water, and needs quieter locking mechanisms on doors ( very noisy ) Needs more umbrellas
Location: 1 block to main strip with cheap buses to markets and restraunts
If you keep in mind this is a 3 star hotel it is very good for the money.

Posada Real reviewPosted Feb 15, 2014
Pros: The Infiniti pool overlooking the ocean and swim-up bar was one of their best features. Also excellent location & free purified water,
Cons: They need new beds!!
Location: Easy walk into town and great location to stroll on the beach.
Most enjoyed the Infiniti pool overlooking the beach.....awesome!! Staff were friendly and helpful but the bed was like sleeping on plywood! Almost changed rooms but finally got used to it. Location couldn't be better and food was adequate. Highly recommend getting a room overlooking the ocean as traffic on the other side can be bothersome. Overall we had a great stay!

Return trip.Posted Feb 6, 2014
Cons: Fine the way it is.
We had a great time again after our last stay about 10 years ago. Nice and small enough to always find a place by the pool or on the beach. Also like the fact that they offered just breakfast and unlimited drink inclusive. We like to try the other restaurants in town so it worked out great. It was full the first couple of days and we had garden view (mountains) room but as soon as ocean side room opened they moved us with no additional charge. We opened window just enough to hear the sound of the surf all night. Beautiful stay and great staff at hotel.

Beautiful beach!Posted Jan 11, 2014
Pros: Perfect beach weather. Gorgeous beach, great palapas. Lovely infinity edge pool. Free drinks and breakfast. Good A/C in rooms. Budget friendly
Cons: Only Adirondacks chairs/wooden lounges on beach; I prefer soft lounge chairs. Bathroom needs upkeep. Music too loud at night (luckily ended 10 pm)
Location: Easy walk to three excellent restaurants -- Chili Beans (traditional Mex), Soleria (Mex/Italian), and LaFusion (Mex/Italian). Easy bus ride to Zihua.
My partner and I visited the Posada Real, Ixtapa just afternoon New Year's for a romantic, relaxing 5-day getaway. We like to sunbathe, read on the beach, stare at the ocean, and play golf. We got the semi-inclusive plan which included free drinks and buffet breakfast daily. The cost was much less than neighboring hotels (Park Royal, Ixtapa Krystal). The weather was 90 Fahrenheit and full sun every day -- much better than Puerto Vallarta or Cancun for early January. Very quiet week (Jan 5-10), mainly Mexican and international guests (not USA). Helpful to speak a little Spanish, but staff spoke enough English to be very helpful. Be prepared for small, dated rooms with small window. Ocean view is worth it, mainly to hear the sound of the crashing waves. Ocean was walk-in warm -- loved it! Sometimes waves were a bit intense, but fine just past the break. Convenient flights on Sun Country -- non stop!

Clean and comfortable. Food was ok but not great - but other restaurants and close. Beautiful beach and pool.
