Our experience

Posted Aug 12, 2014
We've been to four different resorts in Mexico and the only pleasurable experience was the city as we chose to stay outside the resort as much as possible as the stay wasn't pleasant and the food was terrible! We even upgraded our rooms first night to aid in salvaging the experience! Again I would advise visiting Ixtapa as the people were pleasant and lots of cool things to see just don't stay here.

Nice Hotel in my favorite Mexican City

Posted May 6, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness, staff, food options, no wristbands, value.
Cons: Wine wasn't good, get rid of the not-condo sales people.
Location: Wonderful massages on the beach for very low prices. Visiting nearby Zihuatanejo by local bus was easy and fun to do.
Food was better than most for an all inclusive place, tasty and lots of options. Staff were friendly and the place was clean. Excellent location, nice pool, nice guests. The only thing I really, really didn't like was the salespeople who were part of the hotel that kept wanting you to go visit the other properties. Ok, so it wasn't a condo - it was the same thing, and it was annoying as hell! Other than that, it was well worth the money we saved, have stayed at other hotels in the same area for more $$.

Pleasant Stay

Posted May 3, 2014
Pros: The staff
Cons: Beds could be more comfortable & keep kids away from the swim-up bar
The hotel was clean, the maid service was good if not somewhat inconsistent, the staff were accommodating, the food was good (we thoroughly enjoyed the Blue Water Grill and definitely did not enjoy De Mario's Italian restaurant). The beds were a bit more firm than our liking but not overly uncomfortable, didn't appreciate the fact that half of the bar stools at the swim up bar were taken up by children, even though there was a sign that said "adults only". The beach area is very clean - all sand, not shells or rocks. Nice walking beach.

10 days of the best weather in Mexico

Posted Apr 28, 2014
Pros: Location, beach and very friendly and caring staff. Also the attention to detail and the overall housekeeping of the facility was excellent.
Cons: Elevators were slow and "creaky".
Location: Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance if you wish to leave the resort.
We just returned from 10 days in the Sunscape Ixtapa. Overall we have to rate this venue very positively with a big shout out to what we consider the best staff that we have ever experienced in several trips to Mexico and the Caribbean. They were very willing to assist and during the April 18th earthquake this was evidenced in several instances. A 10 out of 10 for all the staff and especially the bar and food service folks who exemplified this on this very unnerving day for all parties. This is a great location for groups and families will a large beach, a small waterslide and several activities for the adults and kids alike. With this said, the spring Mexican break resulted in the resort being very full of young families and occasionally a “pause” was required from over stimulated youngsters that were doing the things that kids like to do on vacation. Not an ideal place for couples, but the absence of adults’ only facilities in Ixtapa has been noted and hopefully one will come shortly in this ideal location. The overall facility is somewhat dated and this is reflected in the hard beds (not unusual for Mexico) and smaller rooms compared to some of the newer sister resorts (Dreams, Secrets). With this said they are clear and well attended by all staff. I would definitely recommend this location and resort to families and folks that don’t mind the younger children around. If you find this a bother, I would recommend an adults only facility.

Hotel Dorado Pacifico

Posted Mar 14, 2014
Pros: See above
Cons: Less noise at night
Location: Good location - easy walking distance to shopping and market
Overall it was a very positive experience. The staff are incredible - friendly, efficient and wanting to please the guests. They all looked well groomed and appropriately dressed. Our room was comfortable and spacious (Junior Suite) but could have had more bed pillows that were softer - the ones we had were uncomfortable. The food was very good - well prepared and attractive. We did miss not having more seafood. The only unpleasant part was the night time entertainment which was much too loud and obnoxious - kept us from sleeping at times. The next time we go to Ixtapa, we will probably try a different hotel for comparison or find something on VRBO.

Great location to beach and outside amenities.

Posted Mar 6, 2014
Pros: Blue water restaurant was really good. On the whole meals were good and the theme nights and entertainment were good. Entertainment staff was great
Cons: Wifi accessibility.
Location: Location was perfect- The flat part of the beach, close to the amenities of Ixtapa, and easy to get to Zihuat and Ixtapa Island by city transportation
Had a wonderful time. The staff are exceptional. We were not impressed with the view from our room, so ended up doing an upgrade which was exceptional. Would definitely request a room on the garden side of the building, then you get a better ocean view.

Pros: Location, location, location
We enjoyed our stay. Food was great and staff was super, they are certainly people pleasers. We would definitely stay there again. Yes, you need to get up early to get your cabana reserved with your towel and magazines.

Perfect location.

Posted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: Many choices for food everyday. Staff is wonderful. Place is very clean.
Cons: Stop the pool chair game.
Location: Lots of shopping right across the street. Went to The Blue Shrimp one night, then to Emilio's another night to just experience the local cuisine.
Love the center of the beach location. Staff is tremendous. All the restaurants were fantastic. Had a great time. The only draw back was they did not honor the request we put in for a King bed. So we had a room with 2 doubles, but the room was comfortable with a nice view, in the end we just slept there. Look for Simon at The Manatee Bar, and Freddy at the front door. Our second time here and we plan on going back again and again. It is easy to find people who have been here 10 or more years in a row, some over 20. The biggest draw back is the "chair by the pool game". Some set their alarms to get up really early to put out their towels. All chairs around the pool are mainly gone before 6am.
