Old hotel on the beachPosted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: Overall price for the hotel was nice, but once I was there I would have paid more to go to a better hotel.
Cons: The hotel need to update their rooms, and fix their elevators. Have better food and entertainment.
Location: There really is not much to do other than relax and go to the beach. There are some island tours and things like that, but not much to do local.
This trip was for our honeymoon, and in the notes for the hotel we let them know that. I thought may be they would do something nice to the room, but nothing was done. The people working there were not very nice! The outside of the hotel looks nice, but once you walk in the hotel area and the rooms you start seeing how rundown it is. My wife almost cried when we walked into the room. I was very disappointed with the hotel, the food, and the people working there. I would pay a little extra to have a better hotel, and better food. Also, DO NOT get the all inclusive package. The food was really bad, and we ended up eating out a lot more than we thought we would. The rooms were clean, but our restroom had a water leaking from the roof, and was not very comfortable. I paid for a parcel view room, which we would have had if they cut down all the trees. Overall the trip was disappointing. I wish we could have gone to Puerto Vallarta instead.

Hotel frente a la playaPosted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: El estacionamiento

Hidden gemPosted Mar 29, 2015
Staff was great, not every staff masters english, all very eager to help, had an issue with our room (bee nest) it was resolved to our satisfaction. Very clean, even garbage containers cleaned thoroughly! Be patient, it does take time for your room to be stocked with drinks and towels. Food was absolutely excellent, mostly Mexican cuisine (don't be shy to try the food it is amazing, if you don't like to expend your culinary horizon, or want a very large selection, choose a different hotel, and I am sorry for your loss) Decor, towels, shower head, tv set, and other details are ok, visible efforts of continuous upkeep and improvement.

Crappy hotelPosted Mar 28, 2015
Food wasn't too great. Pool was too small. Not the best experience. Would not recommend for anyone to go here.

Wonderful place for a relaxing beach-side holidayPosted Mar 21, 2015 on Hotels
Had a great garden-side bungalow that was perfect: close to pool, dining, beach and kids club. Spacious, clean, safe. Patio was covered and relaxing esp for vreaks from high heat. Kids club is limited in terms of range of activities and number of other kids but daughter loved going. Food was fine, staff helpful and accommodating. Good value for price point and we had a great time.

Not what it used to be . . .Posted Mar 18, 2015
Pros: The pool is fantastic and kept very clean. Olivia took great care of us every day and was always happy to see us.
Cons: Something needs to be done about "weekend passes". The number of guests far exceeds the capacity of the pool and long-staying guests suffer.
Location: Central location near shops and restaurants.
This was our third time at the Tesoro and we left disappointed. We arrived on a Saturday and were given a room (315) that was far from suitable. It looked like an old bachelor style apartment, with broken cupboards, a warped counter, a rusted old fridge and a bed that looked like it had been "made to fit". We expressed our concerns but because of 100% occupancy couldn't move until the following day. The move the next day wasn't without issues too, as there was no key for the safety deposit box. Again, after expressing my disappointment, which was now moving to frustration, we were moved again within an hour - the room we finally got was suitable and similar to what we'd had in previous years. In terms of service, there appears to be a serious downgrade. Outside of Olivia (who worked at the pool providing bar service and was fantastic), there seemed to be general apathy in terms of service. You often had to flag someone down at breakfast to get coffee and there appeared to be a lack of pride among many servers. I don't know what has changed in terms of management, but it seems to be something that needs to be addressed. The pool at the Tesoro continues to be one of the finest in Ixtapa. I commend them for ensuring that the facility is non-smoking and open drinks are not permitted in the pool. Major concern with number of "passes" given out on weekends; so many that at times the pool is beyond capacity. Those staying for longer durations suffer or are ignored.

Pros: Close to beach.
Cons: see above
Frankly, I thought the food was terrible. The only decent meal I had was at the restaurant featuring Italian night. Everyday the food was the same. I won't be returning. The room was definitely worn out, bathroom tissue dispenser falling out of wall, rust, stained bath tub, poor shower. TV - horrible picture, unable to view.

If you want quiet, this is not the place for you.Posted Feb 25, 2015
Pros: The staff was friendly, warm and welcoming. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the beach area was beautiful and clean. Most speak some English
Cons: The rooms need paint and updating. They should not be selling day passes when the hotel is already fully booked.
Location: Franks is a great sports bar with good food. La Perla on La Ropa beach is just excellent with beautiful and amazing sunset views.
The beach and the staff were excellent. However, we were unaware that the hotel is selling day passes to the locals so it made the pool conditions and restaurant VERY overcrowded! We love kids but there were so many kids in and around the pool that we didn't even want to use it. We were on the side of the hotel next to the Park Plaza which has an open air disco and is open from 9 pm until 2 am. The noise is so loud we could hardly sleep. It was awful. The walls are so thin that you can hear the person in the next room sneeze. Our door did not latch properly and it has to be slammed several times to get it to shut. The whole place smells musty and old. The rooms were as clean as they could get them but they need a total makeover. Very poor room conditions. There are no ice machines in the place so you had to go to the restaurant to get ice. The food selection was massive and there was always something available. If you want to get a palapa on the beach, you need to be down there no later than 8 am to get one. They need to come up with a better system for the beach towels. Don't expect to see any "American" television. The only thing available was CNN International which is worthless. We love Ixtapa and have been going there for years but would not return to the Tesoro.
