“Great Location...once you get there...”

Stayed here on the last night of a backcountry camp trip in the summer. It is a wonderful location with a lot of winter activities. It is absolutely NOT convenient to the airport though. Granted...nothing outside of Jackson is convenient to the airport...but this location is about an hour and 15 minutes with no traffic from Jackson. Room was very nice, clean, and quiet. Restaurant was good and not overly expensive. I would like to return in the winter for skiing!

“Be Careful”

We booked for two nights; when returning from a hike around noon, we found the maid in the hall chatting, our room was not picked up. We thought when we returned from a trip to Jackson, surely the room would be picked up. She did nothing, the beds we not made, towles not picked up, trash not emptied. We notified the hotel per email but heard NOTHING! While the surroundings are stunning, the hotel management needs to go back to school, if only to extend the courtesy of a reply. Unless rudimentary cleanliness is being practiced, we would NOT return.

“Overly Priced for The Condition”

Once we unpacked everything into the room, the problems began: First the toilet would not stop running until I removed back cover and manipulated the ball. The toliet manipulations had to be done after every flush! Then I took a quick bath which was fine. Two hours later, my wife took a shower but ran out of hot water in the middle of shampooing her hair. Each individual room only had a travel trailer sized hot water heater. The soda machine down the hall made a high pitched squeel which we clearly heard in the room each time it turned to cooling. The night was awful because the hotel's construction has very thin walls and we heard every step that the upstairs "family of eight" took during the night. Believe me, the children upstairs were bouncing and kicking most of the night and we heard it all! Hotel looks nice with excellent cosmetics/appearance but poor construction, especially for the relatively high price. One can expect these problems in a cheaper hotel but not at one in this advertised class.

“A good resort hotel on a remote mountain.”

A good resort hotel on a remote mountain. Quiet and Inconvenient, but may be fun for someone who likes skiing, hiking or, riding horses. Driving in the mountain can be challenging, but the view is fantastic. It's far from the airport although it looks close on the map due to rocky detours.

“Fabulous!!”

It was a great hotel! I love ski resorts in the summertime - so relaxed and unhurried. Not that many people, but still the amenities that you like - pool, beautiful serene surroundings. You can even ride the ski lift up to the top of the mountain for a wonderful view. Wildflowers galore. Great breakfast, too, which was included. Can't say enough!

“Better than staying in Jackson”

If you prefer quiet alpine beauty over crowded tourist traps this is your place. Grand Targhee is a worthy summertime destination and I plan on coming back and staying longer next time. Have no complaints about the lodging exepct that the hot tub was closed. Loved the The disc golf course. The views from the top of the chairlift are outstanding.

“So much for R&R”

The lodge itself was nice, but the location is pretty remote - about 45 minutes to Jackson and the Grand Teton National Park. The nearest town is about 20 minutes away, so you are pretty much stuck using all of the resort services for meals. This wouldn't have been so bad, but the resort was hosting a large wedding or some sort of large celebration. The event was just outside of our 1st floor window, so it was very disruptive to the rest and relaxation that we were hoping to have there and there was no escaping the loud music and people. I wish they would have warned us or placed us somewhere further away from the event. We knew the resort was far away from a lot of things, but we were expecting it to be a peaceful retreat in the mountains! It would have been a much better experience without the big party!

Area recommendations
Would recommend staying here in the winter if you want to ski or in the summer if you just want to stay near the resort to hike or relax by the pool. Would not recommend using it as a base point to go to the Grand Tetons because you have to drive all of the way around the mountains to get to the park and it takes about 45 minutes.

“Not very impressive”

The room was ok (like an average motel). The lodge has a lot of private parties (almost every day). So the ropeway, restaurent etc were closed most of the time.

“Good alternative to Jackson, WY”

Nice off-the-beaten-path, off-season retreat in the summer. One way in, one way out, twenty minute, scenic drive to nearest town of Driggs, ID. About 1 hour to Jackson.
