Excellent value near the beach.

Pros: Excellent staff. Very nice furnishings in the room. The kitchenette is a real plus.
We would definitely stay there again. It was very comfortable. It is close to attractions. Convenient to restaurants.

Pros: The rest was fine.
Cons: The points highlighted above especially the noise of the beds/mattresses
Location: This is fine. We don't use locations nearby. We go to our daughter and her family about 15 min. from there.
I must say that our latest stay at the Best Western in Mayport, Jacksonville was not a pleasant one. 1- They would not accept my Rewards Card for the 4 nights we were there because I reserved through Google and Expedia came up. Nowhere on the card it said the reward is only for direct reservation with Best Western, 2- Our room was not cleaned for 2 days. When we complained, the desk clerk cleaned it partly during the evening. 3- The last night we spent at the motel, when we came back at night, the door had not been completely closed and therefore was not locked. 4- The USA Today that used to be there is no longer there. 5- The beds, (mattresses) creaked very loudly. One especially, waking me up. My card # is 600663 7 34259646 7

Good for stay for househunting.

We checked in tired from a day of house hunting. The staff was welcoming and informative. The room was comfortable and quiet. Nothing outstanding, but a clean, comfortable night's stay. Breakfast was fresh and more than adequate.

Minutes to Naval Base,Coast Guard Station

Room and Hotel were clean and comfortable , Breakfast was ok, Eggs were cold. Neighborhood was a little iffy.

It was good. Clean room but was a little pricy considering it was about 12 miles from the beach. The rate was a little high.

Our property is only one mile from Atlantic Beach, three miles from Neptune Beach and approximately five and half miles from Jacksonville Beach. Ponte Vedra would be about ten miles and Vilano Beach twelve to fourteen, if that's the beaches you were interested in. As for the rates, due to the Florida/Georgia college football weekend, all area hotels had increased rates due to the high demand on rooms and this impacted the entire surrounding area. I apologize the timing was during this peak weekend, hopefully we'll have the opportunity to serve you again when rates are at the normal and expected range. Good overnight stay

Excellent, friendly service at the front sesk at check in. Very helpful when asking directions afterward. Larger than normal room, very clean. Decent amenities. Breakfast was addquate and the room was spotless. Would stay here again.

Disgusting rooms

Conveniently located to the beach and the concierge Jackie was an absolute gem. As far as the actual accommodations - appalling and disgusting for the price I was charged - $92/night w/ taxes. The room we were assigned smelled of urine, mold & mildew. There was a big mold stain on the ceiling, stains and cigarette holes on the sheets. Definitely not the type of place you want to stay for 2 days while in town for a romantic getaway! I suppose it's worth it if you just need a place to rest your head for the night, but even then, the odor in the rooms was just too much for me. The concierge graciously upgraded us to a different room, but after the "just cleaned" smell wore off it also smelled moldy. The floors were uneven and the carpets felt damp. Blah! We switched to the Holiday Inn Express down the street, and given this is the THIRD terrible experience I've had through Hotels.com, it will also be the LAST.

Housekeeping also conducted a deep clean on the room the following day and our housekeeping strive to have our rooms ultra clean and they diligently follow a routine deep clean cycle to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, and these types of issues are certainly not typical here. Please know that we recently began an extensive property improvement project that includes significant enhancements to all guest rooms and the property overall. I had plan this stay 6 months ago, when we arrived everything was so clean and we'll decorated, we had a small problem with our room and she mad up for it with an upgrade after that 3 very pleasant days

Overpriced and outdated

The good: The staff were extremely nice. The breakfast area, though small, was attractive, and the selection of breakfast items was good. Our room was surprisingly large. The bad: Our room reeked of either Lysol or mildew depending on how long it had been since Housekeeping had cleaned the room. The faucet in the bathtub was barely hanging on, and there was no fan in the bathroom to help clear out the moisture from showers. There were stains on the comforters and the beds were rickety. Also, Housekeeping took away my bathroom cup and left my toothbrush bristles down on the bathroom counter. The lobby sign says "no pets", but there were people walking their dogs through the lobby in view of the staff. There's a serious security issue with the back door near the pool area, which doesn't reliably latch. I really wanted to like this place, but was very disappointed and didn't believe that the staff (as nice as they were) would be able to find anything to fix my concerns.
