ok hotelPosted Dec 2, 2013
Pros: room was clean
Cons: pool should be heated. fix the problem that necessitates a dehumidifier in the room
Location: lots of bars, restaurants, and shopping nearby
Used as a stopover on a long trip. Kids were excited there was a pool to play in after a long day of driving and then shocked and disappointed when they found the pool water was very very cold. Our room had a noisy dehumidifier in the corner next to the air conditioner unit.

Pros: Hotel staff
They were installing all new ceiling tiles in our hall on the first floor. We had to walk around ladders with our suitcases and put up with wires hanging down and ceiling tile bits and pieces all over. I think we sho9uld be compensated for our stay under these conditions. If we had known they were under renovations, we would have stayed at the Best Western down the street.

It served as a good location to the dwntwn and BchPosted Oct 1, 2013
Pros: Hotel Staff, comfort in second assigned room, Complimentary Breakfast was excellent/beautifully prepared.
Cons: musty, mildew odor removed and key accuracy
Location: Location to downtown Jacksonville and Beaches was definitely enjoyed. Close to Hospital, Interstates, Restaurants was a plus.
We arrived after 12 hours on the road. Check-in was efficient. We were assigned Rm. 234. Immediately we smelled mildew/?mold. Exhausted, we thought it might clear after utilizing the a/c. Later afternoon, we went to our meeting. When we returned, the odor was still there. We went to Front Desk, informed them, staff gave us another room without odor. The first keys, the second keys, only one worked. In Rm. 310, one of the two keys did not work and neither key worked. We made several trips to the Front Desk to get keys that worked. Frustrating, yes. We chose Hampton Inn because we had stayed in 3 Hampton Inns and Suites and enjoyed every moment of our hotel stay. We later learned this hotel was 29 years old and had been remodeled most recently and has had complaints with musty, dampness odor in rooms. If I had not booked and paid through Expedia, the Front Desk said they could decrease bill due to the problems we experienced. I will book directly to Hamptons in the future.

A little run downPosted Sep 8, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Hampton Inn South in Jacksonville, Fl gets a "just okay" from me. It's starting to show its age and could use a little TLC. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. A little odor I usually associate with older hotels. I would probably pick a different place to stay next time I'm in JAX. Definately felt safe and off the beaten path.

We stay here all the time.Posted Aug 19, 2013
Pros: We like the rooms, the free breakfast, the and the staff.
Cons: The fitness center
Location: easy access on & off I-95, several restaurants not far away.
When we travel to Florida and plan to stay in Jacksonville, we always stay at this hotel--we don't even bother looking for other hotels. The price is right, the rooms are clean & comfortable, access to I-95 is quick & easy, as well as to local restaurants & stores. The staff is always helpful, and the free breakfast is nice.

Gross, dirty, and nastyPosted Aug 5, 2013
Cons: Yes, staff training in cleanliness and proper decorum. Replace broken and worn out items.
The front desk attendant was unavailable and had a friend hanging out at the front desk with her all weekend. The room was dirty. The bathtub was stained and definitely had not been actually cleaned in some time. The duvet covers were lumpy all over and looked disgusting. Nor were they changed after coffee was spilled on them. The beds were made with rocks in them- very uncomfortable!! The elevators were shaky and had no air conditioning. A hot metal, creaky, shaky box is not a welcome invitation. Housekeeping did nothing but bring us clean towels- they didn't even take out the trash. The side entrance door did not shut. What's the point of using a card to get in to a hotel if the door doesn't even shut properly??

Friendly staff, good location, comfortable bed. No towel service at pool, had to use room towels. Room had musty smell, obvious water leak stains under paint on ceiling.

Good value for the money. Only problem was that we were unable to adjust the AC and it got extremely cold, however if you turned it off the room became too humid in a short period of time.
