I WILL NEVER STAY AGAIN

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: THE LOBBY WAS SOME WHAT IMPRESSIVE.
Cons: EVERYTHING PASS THE LOBBY COULD BE IMPROVED.
Location: I DIDNT FIND NEAR BY ACTIVITIES. I DROVE AWAY FROM THE LOCATION ABOUT 10 OR 15 MILES.
AS I WALK IN TO GET ALL CHECKED IN, SMILES WAS UPON MY FACE. AFTER THE CHECK-IN I WENT BACK OUT TO HAVE MY CAR VELETED, BUT THE GENTLEMAN THAT WAS WORKING (ALONE) TALKED ME INTO PARKING MY OWN CAR. SO I SENT MY FAMILY INSIDE AND PRECEDED TO PARK MY CAR. GOT LOST IN THE BACK WHERE I WAS TO PARK. AS I PARKED MY CAR AND RAN WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE CORRECT DOOR, I GOT SOAKED FROM THE HEAVY DOWN POUR. SO AS I HEADED BACK UP FRONT TO HAVE MY CAR VALETED AGAIN, I WAS NOT GOING TO TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. NOW I WAS READY TO HEAD UPSTAIRS TO MY ROOM, SO I JOIN MY FAMILY IN THE LOBBY AND WE HEADED FOR THE ROOM FOR JUST A FEW HOURS. AS WE GOT OFF THE ELEVATOR I NOTICED PEELING PAINT AND A SOUR ODOR THAT SEEM TO BEEN COMING FROM THE CARPET. WITH SORT OF A DISBELIEF I WENT TO CHECK OUT THE ROOM. MAN OH MAN WHAT A NIGHTMARE!!! THE ROOM WAS OLD AND WORN YOU COULD SEE IT AND SMELL IT!!! THE BED DID NOT SMELL FRESH, THE LARGE THROW PILLOWS HAD HAIRS ON THEM, THE SHOWER CURTAIN HAD MIDEW AS WELL AS THE CEILING OVER THE SHOWER, THE TOLIET HAD MARKS ASTHOUGH SOMEONE USED IT AS AN ASHTRAY AND THE EXTRA LOCK ON THE DOOR WAS LOSE. SO EVERYTIME SOMEONE WOULD CLOSE THEIR DOOR MY DOOR WOULD RATTLE. I SHOULD HAVE COMPLAINED BUT THAT NOT WHAT MY STAY WAS ABOUT. I JUST WANTED THE EVENING TO BE ABOUT THE KIDS. BUT I WOULD NEVER STAY IN THAT HOTEL EVER AGAIN!!!

I want to begin by apologizing for not exceeding your expectations. I have shared your comment with all department heads as well as the General Manager of the hotel. We have had a professional company come out to shampoo all the hallways carpets and lobby/ banquet space carpet. We assure you they are very clean. We also have a new Director of Rooms who is taking the conditions of rooms very seriously and will not tolerate less than perfect cleanliness. I hope you give us another chance on your next visit to Jacksonville.

Pros: Close to Cruise Port
Cons: The overall appearance of the hotel needs to be upgraded.
Location: Outlet mall and malls near by along with the cruise port. There is also a zoo.
The room that was on the internet appeared to be large and overlooking the river. However I guess I did not get lucky enough to have a room like this and mine over looked a roof that was in dyer need of repair. It rained one afternoon and my window leaked so I had to be moved to another room with an awful view. When I arrived and was putting my belongings away the house keeping staff just barged into my room with no knock or anything. I guess it was not communicated to them that we had checked in. I continuously had to request towels and bath cloths. I was also unaware that we had to pay to park at the hotel $10.00 a day. Also the pool appears very big on internet but it is very small.

I apologize for not exceeding your expectations during your visit. We always strive for perfection and always over compensate with Service. The photo online of the pool is a view from the roof so that we could show the whole pool area which includes the hammocks and the sundeck.

Impressive lobby and bar serves as a facade that hides what is an aging hotel in need of updates. Holes in the carpets and walls, stains, tiny bedrooms, doors that have been beaten in.

Thank you for your review. We are currently working with a company to clean and repair our carpet. We are also beginning the large project of re-painting the hallways and trying to give the property a facelift. We hope you will stay with us again in the future to see all the changes we are making!

Pros: The gym and the pool were very clean and inviting. Loved the weight machines and exercise equipment.
Cons: The attitudes of those staff workers as they greet customers at counter. They could use additional customer service training. Food needs improvement
Location: dissappointed that side of river businesses and restuarants were closed. Not much to do otherwise.
The overall experience was very disappointing. My bed never felt clean no matter how many times they changed the sheets. My pillows had an unidentifible smell. Thought it interesting that so many people checked in with their own pillows. On my last day I understood why. Furniture is worn and needs to be replaced and in some cases upgraded. The rooms look deem and dank. The hotel staff and cleaning crew were very nice and helpful.

Think twice!

Posted Jun 29, 2014
When I first looked this hotel up on expedia.com it was rated at 3.9 out of 5. So I thought I was getting an excellent deal for the money. But I was disappointed. The room was musty smelling like an old hotel. Parking was very limited and you had to pay for parking. The hotel had a convention that went on till midnight and the halls were full of screaming children and slamming doors until 2:30 a.m.. When I complained to the front staff they acknowledged that security had to go up to my floor to stop the noise but offered no compensation for a room. I would think twice about this hotel!

Maybe it's all the construction??...

Posted Jun 23, 2014
Pros: Location. IF everything had been available! Also, VERY close to all major roads. Getting around was rather easy! Except for the "Road Closed"s.
Cons: Updating. But that's probably just about every hotel. Really old carpeting. Claustrophobic bathroom, but functional. . .
Location: BEACH. We were in town for a convention. Probably spent more time at the BEACH than at the convention!
Was excited at being at "Riverwalk" ON the river. But you could not get to the "riverwalk" from this hotel. But there is ALL kinds of construction going on, so maybe the disappointments from the hotel are not ALL of their fault. An older hotel, OBVIOUSLY. But adequate. We did get a lot of walking in from the front door to our room. It is a rather large hotel. The tv remote did not work upon arrival, but was fixed by the next morning. The view of the construction equipment was perfect, if you like heavy equipment. And just beyond all of that was the river we could not get to. Parking: $2 more at "valet" over "self-park." First time in a LONG time I had to pay for parking. A definite strike against. Breakfast buffet: guess it's best to not get there "late." Or less than an hour from 'closing time.' Even like 35 to 40 minutes before! Overall, we were more disappointed than "happy" but again, can we put all the blame on the hotel?
