“Could not believe living in the jungle could be so beautiful yet comfortable.”
Beutiful vista with excellent accomodations, great food and impressive service.
“Great Service”
My friend and I enjoyed our stay at Hotel Villa Caletas. We both agree we will return. The entire staff was wonderful. I will say I would probably plan on eating in Jaco instead of at the restaurant. We had two expensive dinners at the Amphitheater Restaurant which were both underwhelming. Although the wait staff was superb, I just can't recommend the overpriced food and wine. All wines by the glass were of a very lesser quality than I would expect for the prices and atmosphere. The bottles were more overpriced than at other comparable hotels. So... we will be bringing our own wine and making the trek to Jaco for meals. We were not blessed with great sunsets (we are in the rainy season) but the room and private patio was remarkable.
“Lovely Tropical Surroundings”
Setting on the balcony of your room just waiting for the next call or sightings of Toucans, Great.
“Don´t miss it”
We spent a perfect 5 night stay in Caletas. The service was superb, the views magnificent and the beach is the perfect retreat to enjoy the sea. I am Costarrican, so I´ve been to many of the top hotels in the country and this one is outstanding for a quiet retreat.
“OLd room”
The room looked very old so the TV (more than 10 years old). The bed the same and the blankets also
“Very good hotel”
It is a very nice hotel in the middle of the forest on the mountain. The hotel provides a shuttle to the beach, but do not expect too much from the beach....rocks and peables. If you stay at this hotel you need a car to drive to the surrounding sandy beaches (very nice, not very crouwded). The hotel has an infinity pool, not very big if you are into swimming. The staff is very nice and helpful. Most of them speak very good english and the service is excellent. When we arrived, the staff offered as several rooms to choose from (since we came early in the morning and they had several available). We saw several room and they are very different, decoration and view. The restaurant is very good, but more expensive than other restaurants in Jaco. Lunch or dinner costs 50-75$/person and breakfast 20$/person. Jaco is not too far and it is a very nice town with cute restaurants and stores. The hotel provides free internet and also has 2 computers available for guests (day and night). The hotel is very secluded. You can see many birds and animals. The view is breathtaking. Many tourists come just for the view. We enjoyed the visit.
“A perfect retreat”
The hotel had stunning views, quiet, nicely furnished and comfortable rooms and helpful staff. Watching Toucans from the balcony of the room was other worldly. The pool area was spectacular and I spent an excellent 2 hours at their spa. We really enjoyed the restaurants on site - excellent food and service. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind for a couple of days especially after a week in San Jose.
“Exceeded our expatations”
This place is about two miles from their private beach. The hotel set on a hill top over looking the Pacific ocean. The nearest town Jaco which is six miles away. Cost about $10.00 for taxi. Jaco is a good clean America tourist town. The hotel is mostly private bungalows. There are quite a lot of stair climbing. I wouldn't recommend to people who have trouble climbing stairs. We were 120 stairs from the lobby. The have a nice infinity swimming pool, a bit small for swimming but very enjoyable. The separate building with 8 rooms across the street has a private lap swimming pool. The have two restaurants but one was closed while we were there. When it is a little busier the open the more formal dinning. We Were very happy with all the food and accommodations. We plan on going back again.
“Beautiful and secluded”
Villa Caletas is beautiful, lush, secluded. It's not really in Jaco, so if you are thinking you are right at the beach, you won't be. The hotel has beautiful rooms, an amazing amphitheater for watching the sunset, a great spa. But you are not right next to anything else. It's a walk to get to the street/highway and Jaco is a while away. So you can either get a rental car, a taxi, or you are kind of locked in at the hotel. They have a restaurant and the restaurant is fine, but if you are looking for something else interesting or mix it up you'll need to plan on getting taxis or a rental car. Just be aware. We had massages at the spa and those were amazing. We were up late at night and wanted to use the jacuzzi and they lit up the path just for us. The staff was wonderful, really friendly and understood customer service. The wildlife is everywhere. We saw the toucans, monkeys, etc. and some were at our window. We had an amazing view of the jungle/ocean and we loved it. Highly recommended.
“Lovely Hotel and Views, but Pricey and Remote”
Villa Caletas is a beauitful hotel with friendly staff and magnificent views. The only draw back is the remote location and high prices. My husband and myself rented a car, so we could eat and visit at different locations. We rented a 4x4 car so we could drive down to the private beach. It is about a mile down the hill from the hotel. The wildlife, flowers and plants are wonderful. Due to the mud slides and rain the beaches had a lot of trees and trash on them. Within a couple of days they were cleaned up. We were overall happy with this hotel and our room. The spa services are excellent. With the high price on drinks $10 and up for mixed drinks and $20 and up dinner entrees, we would recommend renting a car. It is about $15 - $20 one way w/a taxi into town. This was our first visit to Costa Rica. Next visit we will stay at different hotels to see more of the country.
