Amazing ExperiencePosted Feb 8, 2013
Pros: the pool, quiet
Location: Beautiful, serene, quiet
Awesome hotel. This hotel is a hidden gem. Very small boutique hotel, with exceptional service. We were earlier than 200 PM for checkin and were allowed to check in right away. Room was big, and walking out from our room to the pool was incredible. I think we only saw two other people while at the hotel, and never at the pool, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Really quiet grounds as well. Highly recommend staying here for your trip to Jaco.

Great experiencePosted Jan 13, 2013
Quiet out of the way location - beautiful setting - great staff! Loved the breakfast. Fountains in a tropical rainforest setting. Would go back!

Little oasis...but noisyPosted Jan 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
My husband and I stayed for 3 nights (Fri - Sun). We really liked the boutique style hotel, our room and the balcony/kitchen facility facing the jungle, however this is not a romantic spot, although it certainly can be. Jaco beach draws locals/tourists each weekend to the area and the open concept kitchen and pool are ideal for families. With such close quarters and openness and the LOUD pool waterfall, it wasn’t until after the mass exodus on Sunday and security turned off the waterfall that we could relax and enjoy the balcony, pool and sounds of the jungle. Bliss!

Beautiful hotel: romantic and quiet.Posted Dec 31, 2011 on Hotels.com
Nice hotel located out of town. Huan Carlos gives excellent service. Rooms very clean: great for romantic weekend or family event. One disadvantage is the food: breakfast is poor for tourists and other food is only with delivery from expensive restaurants. Car is a must.

Wonderful Intimate HotelPosted Sep 5, 2011 on Hotels.com
We were so impressed with El Paso de las Lapas - everything was just wonderful. The service was great and felt so personal and thoughtful - they were waiting up for us even with our post-midnight arrival, and even had a complimentary snack basket for us in the room. The rooms are very comfortable with nice decor and the patio and outdoor kitchens are just wonderful! All of the staff were very attentive to our needs and were such nice people to get to know. I wish we had more than just the two days to spend at the hotel!

exceeded our expectationsPosted Mar 2, 2011
The rooms were great. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained. The staff was very helpful. It was very quiet and it was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Jaco, which was only a 10 to 15 minute drive away.

Small Paradise worth visitingPosted Mar 1, 2011
El Paso de las Lapas is a small paradise. Anna, the manager, and her staff are wonderful. The hotel is off a small dirt road but is well worth the short bumpy drive. As a small boutique hotel, you are treated like the only guest. Daily breakfast made by Anna is a treat, as you are able to relax and take in the tranquility of the canyon. Anna and staff are also happy to recommend restaurants & tourist sites, then contact taxi cabs if needed. Would avoid Jaco and focus on the other beach areas, such as Playa Herradura and Punta Leona.

La Lapas: Gem in the JunglePosted Aug 22, 2010 on Hotels.com
We had a wonderful experience at the El Paso de la Lapas hotel. I didnt want to leave it was so nice. I really could have stayed at the hotel everyday and been very happy! The staff was so friendly! Breakfast was filled with local flavors. The first day it was made for us at the time we wanted since we were the only guests...so nice. Security onsite every night and help at the hotel all day long. This is a very small intimate hotel. It was kept very clean and we always had everything we needed. The mgr Anna took us to the store on the very first morning so we could exchange money and buy snacks and drinks to keep in the kitchen of our room.

I stayed here for 5 nights with my boyfriend in December 09 and we had the best time. The hotel is gorgeous, clean and well kept. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel manager Ana is the best and she is always availalbe to make sure you are well taken care of and your needs are met. If you're looking for a nice quiet place to relax and unwind away from the busy strip of Jaco.... this is it!!

Decent Up and Coming HotelPosted Aug 15, 2009 on Hotels.com
This is a nice, quaint hotel, set aside from the main strip in Jaco. The hotel is still relatively new, and updating many amenities. The beds are quite hard. The grounds are very comfortable, and the rooms feature full kitchens.
