“Great hotel. Lousy wi-fi.”

Fabulous service, beautiful hotel, very nice rooms, great location. But the wi-fi in the room is so lousy, I spent more time in the lobby than in my bed! Prior to arrival, I sent an email to the hotel manager to request a room with good wi-fi, explaining that I only travel with an iPad, which can't connect to a LAN. Despite this, I was in a room where the wi-fi was extremely slow and unreliable. Very frustrating. Not a good window on Japanese technology... Luckily, the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf place next door has a decent, open, stable wi-fi. It worked for me.

Outstanding breakfast, nice clean rooms, excellent location for shopping or just a longer stopover in Jakarta.

Rooms were a little small, and bath not particularly well designed, but very nice and good value.

“High end hotel with a good location”

The Nikko has a good location, right in the centre of Jakarta, and opposite two very large malls, Plaza Indonesia and the Grand. That means that even though the restaurants in the hotel itself are a little bland, there's plenty of high-end eating choices very nearby. There's also plenty of shopping that you could do as well. Admittedly, all of those experiences are rather sterile, but if you want something a bit more gritty, the Nikko may not be the best choice. You can still go eat street food and stay here, of course. The highlight of the Nikko for us was probably the spa - very good, and not expensive - and the swimming pool on the roof of the second storey. We stayed in both the old wing (a standard room) and the new wing (a deluxe room) - the differences are that the older rooms are smaller, but seem to have more modern furniture, and the deluxe room has free internet, which the standard did not. Boo! Only real lowlight for me is that the staff can't book you a Bluebird taxi, only the (substantially more expensive) Silverbird car. If you like being driven around in Mercedes, maybe this isn't an issue; if you're more cost conscious then you'll want to go outside to hail a taxi rather than have the hotel do it for you.

I stayed 6 nights and the only thing that bothered me, was the noise of water running thought the pipes in between the walls. Other than that, I was very pleased. Great Staff!!

“Detoriating & not maintain well.”

Very minimum facilities provided . No hairdryer, no additional socket for lap top, no iron or ironing board, 3 hangers. When asked for a wake up call, a staff actually knocked at room door instead of the usual phone call and 20 minutes later. The furniture and toilet are not well maintain, old & peeling. I will not stay here again.

“Great location, but that is it”

You can't ask for a better location - next door to great shopping and better hotels. Room rate was quite reasonable. If you can accept all the issues below and you can't afford the Oriental, Hyatt or Kempinski, then do stay here. Food at breakfast and lunch at Japanese restaurant was average. Japanese restaurants across the street in the malls were so much better. Bathtub poorly designed with shower head too high. As a result, water filled rim around the tub and overflowed to floor. Housekeeping was not thorough and it was obvious they did not vacuum under the desk.. Room was recently renovated - with hard bed and a srong chemical smell from the new carpet. wifi never worked in the comon areas as promised. When I checked in, front desk did not tell me that I had free Internet so the next morning I paid $10 for 30 minutes of Internet use at the business center.
