not again!

Posted Oct 27, 2014
Pros: It was well appointed and clean.
Cons: This type of "policy" is not conducive to our returning.
Location: n/a
We arrived at our hotel at 5pm only to discover our room was not ready. So upon the advice of the very personable clerk, we went to have an early dinner. While checking in, she advised me that she would put a $100. hold + the room charge on our credit card. She could not adequately explain why, except it was 'policy'. She maintained I would be reimbursed in about 10 days time. Having done world wide travelling I had never been asked for what I could only assume was damage deposit. I let it go, but fussed about it to my husband. We returned to a lovely clean, large room and began a good night's rest. Only to be awakened at midnight by a windstorm that banged a large coil of electric wire against the wall outside our bedroom window. At 2:15 am I called the desk and said it sounded like a door banging - they assured me they would check it out. It wasn't until morning that we realized the problem and again spoke of it to the morning desk clerk. I quizzed her again about the $100.00 and she became fairly snippy and defensive - "policy" and she assured me it would never show up on my bill.....which certainly didn't satisfy me, since she had my credit card number already. While the hotel is lovely and the room great - the experience left us cold and will not use that chain again because of their "policy"

Amenities or not to Amenities

Posted Oct 7, 2014
Cons: Sound Proofing would be nice. If something isn't going to be offer for some time, make a note on the website 'under renovation' or something.
Location: In the Foothills of the Rockies, close to Jasper. One of the best Bike Parks in the land.
Booked the room because of the rate and amenities namely the Pool. Pool closed till further notice. Room was basic, clean. But virtually no sound proofing whatsoever. Heard the neighhours on all sides, in conversation, pacing, showering, etc. Not in the noticeable sense, in the might as well be in the same room sense. Cut the trip short.

Close to Jasper Park

Posted Sep 10, 2014
Pros: Most everything was great.
Cons: The elevator had poorly marked panel/buttons making it hard to read and use.
Location: Close to Jasper Park; It's in Alberta! It has convenient fast food options, and a few sit down eating locations.
Very convenient and accommodating, nice complimentary breakfast service. Room had good space and bath had current fittings and features. We enjoyed our two nights here and saved money by not staying inside the park, but close enough to get to the park quickly. There was a nice forested area behind us to walk our dogs.

bad experience

Posted Sep 4, 2014
We booked a non-smoking room for 4 people(2 adults 2 kids ) with kitchen throuh Expedia. When we checked in on Aug 27, we found there is only one queen size bed and no kitchen. We asked the front desk, she insisted that we only book the room like that and said if we want two beds there is only one room left at smoking floor. She end up just brought a single folding bed in our tiny room. that's a really bad exprience for my family. We believe if exceeds max guests, the web site will not let us to book.

Nice hotel in Hinton

Very close to Jasper National park, it would be a great place to stay in peak season. It took me less than 50 mins from Jasper to hotel.

Smoking room

Posted Aug 29, 2014
Pros: New facilities and room are clean.
Cons: Smoking to be prohibited in the rooms.
Location: Good location. Jasper is near by.
I booked for non-smoking room. But expedia informed hotel smoking room for my reservation. Room facilities are good but smoke smell was too much and difficult to adjust for few minutes. Tried for non-smoking room but all rooms are fully occupied. We reached hotel late in the evening, therefore not tried any other hotel. Otherwise, rooms are clean and all are new facilities and clean. Smoking is the only problem.

Decent hotel but not our first choice

Posted Aug 27, 2014
At check in the reception was good but when we had an issue with a missing shower curtain we called the front desk. Apparently there was a shift change and our concern never got passed on. We waited an hour, no action, then we called again. The person at the desk was different and was surprised. Then when we did get a shower, the water temp was hardly warm, nearly in comfortable. We would stay there again we had to but not our first choice.
