Pros: Location and one friendly staff
Cons: Change the carpet, guest has option to put on airconditioning. Free toothpaste and toothbrush.
Location: Good restaurant and convenient shopping. I hope those who are not playing casino should also be accomodated well.
Windows are too small while they put off airconditiong this time of the year. You will be sleeping with mosquitoes and smell cigarrettes.

Poor Service in English

I arrived on a rainy Sunday morning and asked to have a slightly early check-in to change up but the hotel staff was not conversant in English. Even when it was finally clarified, they were reluctant to accede to our request. Rooms were also in poor condition with the paint peeling.

the lobby staff need a shake up. They think its a casino not a hotel,and ( for example) stopped us entering the hotel after a trip because we were eating ice creams,and they insisted we eat them outside before entering. I will stay else where in future where the hotel guest is preferred to the mad casino gambler

Not worth the price.

Pros: Room clean. Staff friendly. Can walk to restaurants.
Cons: Need to turn on air conditioning in the rooms. Throw in a free breakfast.
They wouldn't turn the air conditioning on in the room because it was "cool" outside. Unfortunately it was not cool inside so I had to open the window and let the mosquitoes in. Restaurant is expensive.

Wifi is not available in the room but only lobby. This is bit inconvenince and casino is just next to the lobby, sometime you will find this is not a suitable environment to work at the lobby. The room felt abit uncomfortable. We were happy that they upgrade our room to delux for my husband and I. BUT, is 2 single bed provided, even we request to change another room, but the replied is "we already upgrade your room".......

The service was great as long as you speak the language. We had kids and they upgraded us to a suite at no extra cost, very accommodating. However when we got into the room, things were clean but very old. Everything looked like it was from the late 70's and early 80's. Would be a nice hotel if they got a renovation otherwise you might want to stay at another hotel.

The so-called "5-star" Oriental Hotel

The main reason we chose to stay at Oriental Hotel in Jeju was because the Jeju Trolley Bus stopped at this hotel. We had made a reservation with the trolley bus prior to becoming to Jeju on 26th Oct 2010 and was told that the company had left a message for us with Oriental. When we check-in at Oriental, we asked one of the frontline staff if there was a message for us. The staff shrugged his shoulders and gave a "i don't care" attitude and said "no message". We were worried because our only mode of moving around in Jeju were all depended on the trolley bus and if the bus did not pick us up, we would be at a lost of how to move about on our own. The staff at Oriental were not the least bit helpful and even told us "your reservation is only with our hotel and what you do outside the hotel has nothing to do with us". Of course, what we do outside the hotel has nothing to do with Oriental! But that is not the way you speak to your customer, isn't it? They even asked us to go back to our room and called the travel company ourselves! I asked him if normally the trolley bus stopped outside Oriental, he retorted "there are so many travel buses that stopped by our hotel each day, how am i to know if your travel bus stopped by or not?". What an attitude!! Beside this, the room is way below expectations. When we entered it was so dark and rundown. There were 6 light bulbs in the room but only 2 were workable. Besides that, we spent sometime trying to figure out how to turn on the other light by the bedside. The room was so dim!! The television set is old and the resoution poor. Instead of bottled mineral water, we had only one water-filled container. The door to the bathroom is old and the paint on it peeling. We couldn't charge our camera battery (we could charged at the other hotels we stayed in). And most importantly, the room was not even "clean" as there was a marble-playing sound coming from the fridge the whole night which kept us up!!! I suggest travellers to Jeju to stay at other hotels instead!!!

WORST 5 star hotel EVER.

Absolute WORST 5 star hotel I've ever stayed in. The bed was not a Queen or King as expected, it was two small full-size beds PUSHED together. There were paw prints on the floor, a fly in the bathroom, water drained slowly as if it were clogged, and it was generally old and run down. I called the hotel service people to complain about the poor quality room. They showed me a room next door in the exact same HORRIBLE condition and then told me I could pay more for a suite room. PATHETIC 5 star hotel.

They have rooms facing either Hallasan or the seaview. The carpet is very dirty and the room is a little smelly. However the bathroom and the bed are clean so we are satisfied about that. Breakfast is not included but nearby there are lots of choices, either buy something from the nearby E-Mart or heading towards the main streets of the city, and also some Korean restaurants on the same street as the hotel. If you don't mind about the dirty carpet and just need a place to sleep and also a clean bathroom, this hotel is recommended. If the local taxi drivers don't know where is Oriental hotel, just tell them to head to Pacific Hotel, which is just across the road.

Nice stay!

We got a very good deal through hotels.ca so the room didn't cost a lot, but room service and the restaurants and mini bar, etc were very pricey so we just ate out. There are many seafood restaurants nearby, as well as a McDonalds and a Dunkin Donuts. Also close to the market, the waterpark, and the fair rides. The room was nice, and the bed was very comfortable. We were travelling with a baby and her play pen fit easily into the room. Everything was clean as well.
