Jeongseon is located some 95 miles (153 kilometers) from Seoul, the country's capital, and about 55 miles (89 kilometers) from Sokcho.
Jeongseon isn't the only place in Gangwon worth seeing; avid travelers should head off and experience the charms of the surrounding scenery, towns and cities. Taebaek, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the northwest, and Donghae, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the west of Jeongseon are also worth visiting should you have the time.
For a low-cost outdoors activity that will interest the entire family, take the time to check out the region's popular open-air exhibits, street art and gardens. If the weather means you don't want to be outside, head to Gangwon's history museums, art galleries and art museums.
The wider region offers some great options for those who enjoy watersports. Boating and canoeing are just two of the popular choices here. Get outdoors and get amongst it in the Jeongseon area. Try your hand at hiking or give mountain climbing a spin.
Get to the heart of the Gangwon food culture by taking your tastebuds for a tour of the region's restaurants or cafés. Buckwheat and potatoes are two of the commonly used ingredients. There are many specialty dishes locally. Check out makguksu (buckwheat noodles) or patguksu (noodles in red bean soup).
The handiest major airport, Cheongju International Airport, is located in Cheongju, 80 miles (129 kilometers) to the southwest of Jeongseon, which is handy to remember when booking your vacation.
