“An Oasis in Jerusalem”

Peaceful, beautiful, comfortable, stunningly landscaped and well-located for visits to the Old City. The restaurants are superb, the bar is comfortable, large and popular, and the breakfast as good as any European hotel's breakfast. Three caveats: (1) the hotel is near a mosque, which broadcasts loud and long (10 -15 min) recorded calls to prayer several times a day. You may want to ask for a room that doesn't face in that direction. (2) the hotel is in East Jerusalem; some people are uncomfortable about that, though the area is perfectly safe and the staff is courteous to a fault. (3) standard single rooms, though nicely appointed, are on the small side; standard doubles are quite ample. The outdoor pool is excellently serviced and a pleasure to use after a day's sightseeing.

“Amazing experience”

Stayed at the American Colony on our first trip to Jersualem. Upgraded to a Jr. Suite at no charge. Beautiful, comfortable room. Service was outstanding and dinner in the Restuarant was amazing. Only complaint: hot dishes for bkfst buffet were a bit on the cold side. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Jerusalem after this wonderful experience.

“Nice escape”

This is an exceptionally nice, clean property that is located within a 10 minute walk to the walled city. On-site restaurant is outstanding and has a very quiet, romantic enclosed garden. The staff is very courteous and helpful. We will definitely stay in this hotel on return trips. We have lived overseas for the past 10 years and have traveled extensively - this is one of the nicest hotels in which we have stayed.

“American Colony - A Lovely Gem”

We enjoyed our stay. On arrival, we were greeted with a glass of champagne at the front desk. The hotel is filled with flowers in bloom and has a stately, charming air. Our room was lovely. The included breakfast the hotel offered was excellent. The Italian restaurant is also nice, but doesn't give you any feel for where you are -- better to go out. The staff were friendly and accomodating. Parking is easy and as I recall, free of charge. The hotel is in East Jerusalem -- a short walk to the Old City. If it's important to you to be near all the big hotels like the King David, this is not the right choice, but if you like boutique hotels with plenty of ambience -- as opposed to cookie cutter luxury -- this is the place for you.

“Hotel fabulous. Rugs in room dirty. Curtains Broken. Room needed work.”

This historic older hotel is wonderful!!. The courtyard, grounds, location, and onsite hotel restaurants are absolutely fabulous!!!! The service is great. But our room and bath, which were in the older part, really really needed some work. The tub/shower had a half glass swinging door and no matter how you tried the floor was soaked each time the shower was used. I loved having the beautiful old stone floors in the room, but the throw rugs were very very dirty and the fringe on one brown with ground in dirt - they need to sent them out to be professionally cleaned. The Curtains were horrible - could not get them closed - they did not fit the windows, pull rods were missing and tie backs were broken. The hotel marketing shows some rooms have been updated with shutters - the old style windows were designed for shutters. Otherwise great!!

“Jerusalem's best”

The staff was wonderful-- friendly and helpful-- and the hotel elegant and charming. The hotel arranged for a terrific tour of the Old City with an excellent guide, as well as a day trip to the Dead Sea. This is the place to stay in Jerusalem!

“Superb hotel, close to Damascus gate”

Our first visit to Jerusalem was made more special by the American Colony Hotel. This is a superb hotel, close to Damascus gate. Staff is all Arab and polite. Excellent restaurant as well.
