500 Meter entfernt vom Damaskus Gate

Posted Mar 14, 2015

Jerusalem Hotel

Posted Feb 26, 2015
Pros: Was so close to the Old City.
The hotel is so close to the Damascus Gate it made walking in and out of the old city really easy. We got to the hotel after midnight and they were there waiting for us. The free breakfast in the morning was fantastic and we were off for the day. We needed to check out late and move rooms and they were very happy to give us the big room so we could all get ready for the airport after a day of touring.

Pros: - Location - Architecture and furniture - Nice breakfast - Friendly staff.
Location: Close to Damascus gate and the old Arab bus station, in case you plan to visit the West Bank.
Nice hotel in East Jerusalem. Location is very convenient, just a few minutes walk to Damascus gate and the old city. Rooms are spacious, with Arab old furniture and tapestry. You really feel that you are sleeping in an Arab mansion 100 years ago...

Classic Arabic Hotel

Posted Nov 24, 2013
Pros: The period atmosphere, friendly reception staff, great location near Damascus Gate
Cons: The showers; water lukewarm to cold on our visit!
Location: Just near Damascus Gate, the Old City and the attar cations of East Jerusalem
Lovely hotel superbly fitted out with period furniture and soft furnishings. Cafe/dining room is a meeting place for all kinds of interesting people. Friendly helpful staff, although cafe staff a little slow in the afternoons. Oud and drum music from local duo on Friday evenings. Recommended

The good reviews were true!

This was by far the best hotel experience I have had in the region and I selfishly hope that it stays popular enough to do good business, but remain a secret. Still, the place deserves a good review so here goes. The hotel is in an old house with 14 rooms, I believe, so the staff members know your name before you even introduce yourself. It is beautiful and crucially, it is a small hotel in East Jerusalem which means no loud or rude tour groups swarming the place- instead, just a few quiet guests. The location is perfect for visiting the Old City but quite close to West Jerusalem as well and is an oasis on Saturdays when so many things are closed. The outdoor restaurant serves a proper breakfast buffet with pita, cheese, olives, etc. with some Western items added (we did not try much of the Western stuff) and your coffee is made on the spot for you- espresso, cappucino, Arabic coffee, etc- by a very sweet woman. This part of the hotel is also not bad for sitting and working at the computer and there is wireless internet. It fills up at night with local people.
