Ideal hotel near Johannesburg AirportPosted Nov 29, 2013
Pros: Pleasant staff, large comfy rooms, lovely garden and pool.
Cons: Some small details need attention such as paintwork etc.
Location: It's really only suitable as an airport stopover.
We only stayed one night but a few more would have been OK. It's a lovely enclave in a not-so-lovely area a few minutes from the airport. They sent a shuttle minibus (free) to pick us up, the driver being friendly and helpful, as were all the hotel staff. The hotel was comfortable though fairly basic and needing the odd lick of paint. It was nice to relax in the well-tended garden and swim in the clean refreshing pool. There's a self-service bar and they serve a tasty evening meal. Excellent value for money!

Definitely not 4 starPosted Nov 22, 2013
Pros: The snooker table
Cons: Staff taking better care of paying guests
Location: The location was next to the airport under a flight path. There was nothing to do in the immediate vicinity.
We booked and paid for a twin room. On arrival we were offered a double room which we accepted. What we didn't know was the room we were put in was a room they offer for free to coach drivers. We had no cable, no fan and a bed that was like sleeping on wood. We cannot understand why the staff would deliberately downgrade us. Aside from that there was nothing to do nearby and the cost of a driver/taxi was ridiculous so you were virtually forced to stay put.

Close to OR Tambo airport.Posted Oct 26, 2013
Pros: Dinner. Included breakfast. Free airport shuttle. Honor bar. Friendly staff! Outdoor and community space.
Cons: Interior condition and air quality of room. Rm. #5 remove kitchen like space and water faucets and make area a sitting or sleeping space.
Location: Not in an area to do things independently. Close to airport. Appreciated the outside and open sitting spaces. Tours could be arranged.
Grounds very nice and well maintained. Great outdoor seating. Didn' t use pool but looked inviting. Staff very helpful and friendly. Able to have late room check out and kept luggage until we departed. Honor bar allowed for self service. Free airport shuttle for pick up and drop off very nice! Dinner was surprizingly delicious! Full free breakfast also nice! Interior of rooms were of lower quality, had strong smell of "air freshner" upon our arrival. Did improve after we opened windows and had fan on. Bedding was clean and bed was comfortable. Overall rooms need updating and minor repairs. Room had small room fan otherwise no climate control.

Good value hotel for a stop overPosted Oct 25, 2013
Pros: Clean, friendliness and comfort. Reliable, complimentary wi-fi.
Needed a hotel to stay overnight for flight connection after a 3-week road trip in Southern Africa. Aero Guest Lodge was the perfect place. Friendly and comfortable lounge area with swimming pool, pool table and free coffee/tea all day long. Reliable wi-fi helped us catch up on email communications. Meals in the restaurant were excellent. Free shuttle from/to the airport was good value. Excellent value overall.

Cozy, clean, happy guesthouse 5 min from airport.Posted Oct 19, 2013
Location: There is very little to do nearby. You will NOT be close to other stuff in Jo'burg. Best for folks with an airport stopover.
This is an awesome place. The grounds are immaculately groomed and full of flowers; lovely, clean pool; spotless, comfortable rooms. Even better is the fact that all the staff is helpful, friendly, and competent. Good option for families (pool, lawn, cribs, toys). You can get to know the folks working there, and as they have a great, cozy restaurant on site, there is a real family feel to the place. Even if you plan to go into town, you can be there in 15 minutes on the excellent, clean, safe metro. Ask the shuttle to take you to the Rhodesfield station. Don't take a taxi - this will be crazy expensive and take forever. I will definitely stay there again when I come through.

Love this place!!Posted Sep 19, 2013
This was my first time staying here, as I normally stay at Aviator just across the street. I was pleasantly surprised all the way around. The food was fantastic (chicken kabobs), wifi was available my whole stay, staff was lovely and room was great. It's affordable, close to the airport, and offers free shuttles to/from airport. What more could you ask for?! Will definitely be back!

Great hotel for the price close to the airportPosted Sep 2, 2013
Pros: Grounds and the honor bar
Cons: Updating the rooms a bit would be nice
We had a one night layover stay at the Lodge and enjoyed the grounds and the common areas. They have a little honor bar to enjoy some cocktails at.
