Convince. The free shuttle to the Mandela Square was excellent. Breakfast was lovely. The staff in the restaurant were lovely especially Martin. The front desk staff were not as friendly as expected. Other than that it was lovely

Grand Hotel in The heart of Sandton
This was our first stay at the Hilton in Sandton and although its a 5 star hotel we didn't know what to expect since the ratings of a hotel could be misleading at times. This hotel however lives up to the reputation of a 5 star establishment, from the rooms to the restaurants, everything is well managed and the staff well trained.

My weekend stay at Hilton Sandton was incredible! The staff, from the Receptionists to the Restaurant staff and the Housekeepers were all very pleasant and kind, and always smiling. There’s a complimentary shuttle to the nearby mall every 30 minutes which was awesome!

David, at reception, was really welcoming. We arrived late (12 hour delay by airline) we were exhausted and frustrated - there was just 10 minutes left of my 40th birthday. All of our plans were ruined yet he managed to make me smile with a chocolate. A simple gesture which I truly appreciated.

Worst weekend
I will never recommend this hotel to anybody. From Friday I had issues with staff. Not being allowed to swim. Saturday half five went to restaurant for supper because my daughter was hungry and again was chased away and told the resturant only serves after half six. So we went to our room and only just a bowl of spinach and buns and waited over an hour. Another incident one of the ladies in the lift rudely grabbed my daughter’s popcorn without permission. I’m not Cctv footage of this will be available. Then Sunday early morning I wake to the door bell ringing non stop. When I opened the door, the lady asks me what time am I checking out. I mean what was the purpose of this, to tell me get out nicely? I know what time is check out. Am I taken as an imbecile? Our room bathroom was a terrible state. Bathroom basin plunger broken. Toilet roll fitting broken. At odd times of the night we hear weird noises I think coming from water pipes but it freaked my daughter out. The worst part was being kicked out of the restaurant when my daughter and I were starving from a long day. Why then keep the restaurant open. Or Alteast let guests know of schedule. Yet in the room the menu says 24 hours a day. Either way the entire trip was very disappointing for a hotel like Hilton. Maybe because I’m not and dignitary or ambassador or minister or even a millionaire it shows where the hotels loyalty lays only with influencers with money and power

The property itself was accommodating. The bellmen, ALL OF THEM were exceptionally pleasant, and went above and beyond expectations. One of which helped secure our baggage out of a drivers trunk after itnwould not open. 1 hour later and back seats removed we had our luggage. The luggae was clean and ALL staff were welcoming. Now the bad part. Traveling abroad everything seems a bit smaller. They donnot offer 2 full size/queen beds in one room, only twins. There was an altercation in which a staff member blatantly lied abputnwhybwe could not check out on the Executive floor which we stayed. The Hotel manager told her to apologize. She did not. The hotels manager Mr. B. Maredi seemed unfazed and walked away leaving his employees to handle misinformation. I had to reach out to Hilton directly to get resolve. Other than that unfortunate incident, it was a generally overall pleasant experience.

The staff and their service was top notch! I would highly recommend this facility. I did not like that the doors to the room don't close quietly, the slam so hard to where it wakes you up from your sleep

As a traveller carrying electronics from other parts of the world USB ports are quite handy for hotels, but these are not available at this hotel, plus the staff can´t find solutions to this and seemed not very empathetic when it came to solve charging electronics
