Excellent value in Excellent locationPosted Oct 25, 2013
I have just spent 2 weeks at this hotel. I was very pleased with the decision. The room was large, modern and very comfortable. The staff was always attentive & helpful. Given the length of stay, my key criteria were Location (Perfectly met: next to Gautrain station; connected mall restaurant facilities; and more central than Sandton), Gym (Yes, limited, but quite adequate), and efficient, complementary Internet (Good: all complaints in earlier posts to be discounted. The hotel now provides free 200Mb per day - as high as many monthly telephone plans; I never came close to the limit, even after 4 hours online. This limit only excludes movie-streaming. In all 12 days there was only a single overnight interruption of service.) Re Crown Plaza vs. HolidayInn, both in Rosebank: Bottom line, if you like the hustle-and-bustle of a large hotel with drive-in entrance, and a lot of staff interaction, the Crown Plaza might be for you. But if you like to be left alone, in a quieter, more genteel (yes, defying stereotype) atmosphere, the HolidayInn may be better. It has a slick, somewhat boutique-like feel, having half the number of rooms of the CP. The HolidayInn location is superior in being 3 blocks closer to the Gautrain, and immediately leading into a shopping mall with a multitude of restaurants and facilities. The low-key street entrance (with elevator to elegant 2nd floor reception) is made up for by higher ceilings in corridors & rooms.

great experiencePosted Jul 17, 2013
Stayed here three nights after a 30-hour trip to Johannesburg. Very easy to get here from the airport via Gautrain. The hotel was an excellent place to rest and to use as a base for day trips. It is only 30 meters from the Gautrain station, which made travel quite easy. The staff were very courteous and helped me solved a transportation issue related to my subsequent tour. I would definitely stay here again.

Many thanks for your great review of our hotel and I was delighted to note that everything was to your satisfaction. Our location and access to the Gautrain station is a unique selling point and many of our guests find this to be of great benefit. We hope to be of service to you in the near future. Superb hotelPosted Jun 10, 2013
Very friendly staff. Good location with restaurants nearby and shopping mall attached. The hotel food was very good quality and very reasonably priced. Even better is that the underground runs to the outside of the hotel so very quick to get from Airport to hotel with police on all trains and at every station.

Exellent hotel BUT......Posted Mar 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Holiday Inn Rosebank is an excellent hotel, well-appointed with friendly, helpful staff. The room was very clean and comfortable with color TV, nice workdesk and spotless, modern bathroom. The hotel is situated at The Zone which is a lovely, modern, secure neighborhood with a variety of restaurants and shops. However I have one BIG gripe: Situated right next to the hotel is a nightclub which plays thumping, extremely loud music until the early hours. When I was there it was also a public holiday and there was a live band playing at ear-deafening levels. I got very little sleep with the loud music. A lovely experience spoilt by the proximity of the nightclub. Such a pity.

A Bargain in JoburgPosted Jan 21, 2013
Pros: Location and reasonable rates.
Location: Superb--on the Gautrain and attached to an excellent mall.
A little austere but spacious. Internet access was costly. The breakfast was fine except for poor coffee. Having a superb mall attached was a real bonus.
