Good as a stop-over while wating for connectionsPosted Sep 12, 2014
We had a problem finding the hotel as its acroos the highway from the airport so isn;t as close as it looks on the map. Once found it was perfect for a stopover while we waited for a flight connection overnight. Food and service was good and the room was clean and more than adequate.

Airport hotelPosted Sep 8, 2014
Pros: Value for money
Location: Free shuttle bus makes this an excellent airport hotel option
Clean, very comfortable, tastefully decorated rooms. Restaurant was warming with an extensive menu. This hotel definitely breaks the mould for airport hotels with great character and good food. Staff were friendly and attentive but still gave you your privacy. The free shuttle bus ran to schedule and was well signposted in the airport. Value for money.

A decent hotel close to airportPosted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Provided location near the airport for an early departure the next morning.
Cons: Section off a portion of the restaurant, maybe a true bar area, and then the restaurant. Brighten the hallways.
Location: Nothing - you are at the airport.
We were simply overnighting next to airport as had an early morning departure. While this hotel is 'close' to the airport, it is extremely hard to find, and is located on the opposite site of the airport. If you take the provided airport shuttle, no problem, but finding this hotel at night was very challenging, even with google maps running while driving. My wife liked the 'industrial, warehouse' appeal of the hotel much more than I did. Rooms are small (European Style) but very clean. For a hotel that was built in 2009 for the World Cup in South Africa (so were were told), the hallways are narrow and dark. Restaurant is okay, but not real comfortable, but beats trying to leave and find your way back!

Excellent for business & travel use.Posted Aug 22, 2014
Pros: Cleanliness, the front-desk staff, airport access, nice food and bar service, modern business center.
Cons: Unlimited Wi-Fi would be nice.
Location: Used extensively by OAT tour groups and business travelers. Tours to Johannesburg & surrounds can be arranged.
OR Tambo Protea was used by the Overseas Adventure Travel group at the start of a 3 week safari and we booked a night on return to ease travel back to the US. There's a free shuttle to/from the OR Tambo a/p in Johannesburg and travel can easily be arranged to the train station that serves downtown Jo-Burg, Pretoria, and suburbs. The rooms are small, immaculate, and provide all the necessities for the business traveler. Staff help varies from outstanding to gruff, but mostly very helpful. We received excellent support from the front desk about numerous questions that we had as first-time travelers to South Africa. They also stored a suitcase for us during our three week safari and we picked it up on return. The food and bar service is good. There's a modern business center adjacent that provides facilities for printing out boarding passes and internet access, and there's a staff member who will assist with computer problems. Wi-Fi is available although the maximum data use is limited. Probably not the best spot for a family touring, but excellent for couples or individual travelers. Good value.

Convenience is the keyPosted Aug 21, 2014
Third of 3 nights of stays over 3 weeks. Must say I run hot and cold on this hotel. First night. Wifi hopeless, pretty ordinary dinner, service so so. Considered changing our future bookings but drcided to continue as the were only single nights. Second night. Much improved wifi. Good meals. Very helpful staff. Third night. Back to poor wifi but everything else was very good. Would stay again simply for the convenience. But as a base for a few days, I would look for a nice boutique hotel, lodge or b n b which we found all over sa to be a much superior experience and significantly better value for money. 3.5 overall from me.

Convenient, close to airportPosted Aug 14, 2014
The pick up was nice and quick. Bed was comfortable. Nice little gym to work off jet lag. Nice pool too but it was too cold to swim. Pleasant vibe. Good food. Nothing fancy, but ideal for an overnight stay.

Great after a long haul flightPosted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Being so close to the airport we thought it may be noisy. We were pleasantly surprised with how quiet it was.
Cons: The airport shuttle was difficult to find - a desk or sign inside the arivals terminal after you have been through immigration would be handy.
Great after a long haul flight. Only negative comment would be no fridge in the room (if you have medications that require refrigeration I would suggest asking prior to booking). Fast & easy check in & check out with lovely friendly staff!

Convenient. Close to airport.Posted Aug 10, 2014
Stayed twice in a week. Room is odd with shower placement. May not suit two people who are not a couple, sharing. Food was ordinary to say least on first visit. Better the second time, though not world beating. Would stay again but only due to convenience.

No sleep all nightPosted Aug 7, 2014
Pros: Proximity to airport
Cons: Rooms need to be sound proofed, better food at the restaurant.
The hotel room looked good, but i hardly got any sleep because the walls are paper thin, i could hear the telephone conversations i the room next door. I also kept getting phone calls until eventually at 1 am i disconnected the phone.

Good to have a 'good value' airport hotel.Posted Aug 7, 2014
Staff did a business like job from reception to food and through to the shuttle bus.
