Perfect Stay

This is a great hotel. Obviously an old hotel but this only adds to the charm of the residence. The service and food was fantastic. I will definitely being staying there again on my next trip to Joburg.

Its an old hotel with history. I prefer to stay at more newer hotels but it was convenient to where I was visiting. It was good value for money and good meals. The room was too small especially the area around the de4sk for working but otherwise it was ok

It's homely. Ideal for a quiet family holidays. The route to some of the hotel rooms needoverhead cover. It's not fair to expose clients to harsh weather conditions.

It was a great place to stay in Johannesburg, and after seeing the other areas, it would still be my preference. The breakfast which was included in the room rate was absolutely delicious. I really looked forward to the opportunity to eat a healthy breakfast and get a taste of the local cuisine.

Pros: Staff helpfulness. Great breakfast.
Cons: The lift.
Location: Great, but drive into reception lobby is very sharp and tricky.
Hotel location, very convenient. Staff always listening and ready to help, very friendly and cautious. Regularity of room maintenance, very good. Overall, hotel now needs of total refurbishment to meet 21st century standards, especially the lifts in main block.

The hotel was fine but the bad was very uncomfortable . I had to carry my bag weighing 30kg all the way to third floor no assistance from staff or apologies.

A bad experience for a tourist.

Your information said they provided airport pickup free as part of the hotel service. They don't. I paid $50 per pickup for me and my daughter and for me back to the airport for a total; of $150.00. Internet srvice only works in the lobby. The front desk are non responsive and act like they don't understand what is being asked. my daughters meal the first night was not good. She got another hotel because of the poor service. It took them an hour and a half to pick me up at the airport. In fairness to the dinning room staff their service was good. The grounds are lovely and the building is from a pAST period but in good condition. It is not a hotel for tourist like me. It is most likely best for business clients only given all the offices in the area.

Sunnyside Park Hotel, Johannesburg

I have known this hotel for over 45 years (last visited nearly 40 years ago) and it still retains it's unique ambiance, comfortable stately lounges and dining rooms, beautifully maintained gardens and pool. The outdoor decked area for meals and drinks is a delight as is the English style Pub. The interior decoration shows a need for some TLC - carpets in hallways are stained and tired and peeling paintwork in places lets down an otherwise well preserved building and facility. The lift to the the upper floors takes one back to the 1950's and could do with modernisation as a priority. All in all, though, great value for money, and I would not hesitate to use again.
