enjoyed the stay and locationPosted May 24, 2014 on Hotels.com
It was a little of a nightmare after driving 9 hours to be told what you booked isn't available. We got another room which wasn't what we wanted we were satisfied. They offered a fire wood stove but no matches or fire wood were at the unit so it was mildly annoying to split and gather my own wood and find a fire source. The bed was very uncomfortable and I was glad I drank enough to pass out. If your looking for a rustic retreat with beautiful scenery this is a great quiet spot but set your expectations a little lower than mine and I assure you will enjoy.

Decent place if you're not a princessPosted Sep 2, 2013 on Hotels.com
Decent place to stay. Don't expect anything fancy. Stay away if you're a princess or married to one.

TOURIST TRAPPosted Aug 20, 2013
The cabins themselves are nice, but the Johnston Canyon Resort is a bit of a tourist trap. We cooked our own food on a camp stove, as the food at the restaurant seemed a bit questionable.

Less than expectedPosted Aug 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
Lock to cabin door did not even work. Very uncomfortable sleep. Overall stay poor. Like sleeping in car, camping or a cheap hostel at a hotel price

Fun Filled Days at Johnston Canyon ResortPosted Aug 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
Excellent location and staff! The restaurant was excellent for breakfast, we did not have dinner or lunch at the restaurant but I would guarantee the food is just as good by the amount of burgers and shakes people were ordering!! There is a communal BBQ if you want to use it. The cabin itself was great!! Very clean and the shower was hot! The gas fireplace was a bonus as we turned it on in the mornings because it was a wee chilly/damp! The location of our cabin was away from the parking lot and I was pleased with that because the parking lot is PACKED with tourists all day venturing out to the Falls and Ink Pots. I recommend doing a hike to both - bring water and a small treat with you if you plan on hiking past the Falls up to the Ink Pots!! Johnston Canyon Resort is located along the Bow Valley Parkway and YOU will see wildlife along this road so drive with caution!!

Beautiful location but very disappointedPosted Jul 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
The location is great but the room smelled and the mattress was very worn out. We didn't get the room we had prepaid for. No explanation was given. No pillow cases, no towels, no curtain on window facing the bed. There's lots of nice places to stay in Banff and Lake Louise and this isn't one of them.

Really Canadian!Posted Jul 11, 2013 on Hotels.com
We were touring through the Rockies with some European family members and Johnston Canyon Resort is slightly off the main highway between Banff and Jasper and is wonderfully rustic (not in a bad way) with direct access to the canyon hiking trail. Lots of nature and wildlife. It is rustic (no phone), old cabins, but comfortable, warm, and kitchen had all that we needed. Cabin 11 accommodated four adults comfortably and we were given an air mattrass for the unexpected fifth guest.

Beautiful Location but in Need of Some UpgradesPosted Jun 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
The location of these cabins can't be beat. The trail to Johnston Canyon is literally right at the doorstep of the cabins. The staff was great, very friendly and accommodating. The cabin itself was clean with a cozy layout, however numerous light bulbs were burned out, the hot water in the shower didn't work at all and the bed and bedding badly needed to be replaced. The only consolation was that we had deal and didn't have to pay full price, so I would say we got what we paid for. All things considered, I wouldn't pay full price unless they make some major improvements.

Amazing WeekendPosted May 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
Friendly staff. Great food in restaurant. Cabins are beautiful and comfortable. Unfortunately, the intermittent communication problems with debit machine and no access to bank machine created some inconvenience and payment problems.
