“Microtel - Joplin (Horrible)”

Pool was broken, all rooms smelled like smoke, sheets were crunchy and itchy, beds were not comfortable. Horrible place to stay.

“No problem here”

I was in Joplin for one night when my ladies choir sang a concert at First Baptist Church. Several of us stayed over to help with a mission action project. This location is right next to a Cracker Barrel restaurant. I would have preferred a ground level room but it was for only one night. The room was small but efficient. A/C was quiet. All rooms look alike with your eyes closed! TV was mounted up high and best viewed while laying in bed. Guest laundry (coin operated) was right down the hall.

Area recommendations

Joplin still needs massive tornado relief. If you have time or money to give, please consider donating either or both. Contact the local Baptist Association for more info.

“Not impressed”

When we arrived & got into our room there were HUGE spots on the bedspread like it had never been washed...... There was NO hot water to take a shower.... Breakfast was fair at best.....Would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Hallway carpets were filthy!

“Don't stay here!!!”

Hotel seemed nice enough at first glance but after you walk in you see otherwise. This hotel which is supposed to be non-smoking smelled horribly of smoke. I fact I saw guests smoking in the center stairwell. The air in the rooms was stale and heavy. The bathroom had mold growing on the grout and hair in the corners. The comforters were stained and the carpet had food crumbs. I would have asked for another room but I knew they didn't have any because they had a hand written sign on the front door saying "NO VACANCY". We had made a reservation through expedia a few weeks before or we wouldn't have had a room. Also there was not enough parking. We arrived late at about 10pm and there was no place to park. I asked the front desk attendant if I could park in the restaurant parking lot next door and she said they would tow me. She offered no help or suggestions as to where to park. We finally parked in the corner of the parking lot on top of the yellow striping indicating no parking as this was the only space available not in a normal spot. It seems like this hotel tries to be nice and like I said at first glance it seems to be. I guess you get what you pay for.

“Not comfortable.”

Extremely hard bed, very worn bedding, couldn't see the TV. Overall, just a cheap hotel. Not real dirty, but not real clean either. Won't go back.

Area recommendations

The area of the hotel was fine. There are many other hotels in the same area, as well as restaurants. Convenient to the interstate.

“As Good As Any...”

Clean, comfortable, quiet. For the money, Microtel chain has never disappointed us. Breakfast very minimal... plan on eating elsewhere.

Area recommendations

This was off the main highway. Was not easy to navigate highway exits. Many restaurant choices very close to hotel.

“Satisfactory is the name of the game.”

The room was ready and clean. It was a bit old, could use some paint, etc. in the bathroom, but overall was sleepable, which was what we did. Microtel IS micro.

While the staff was pleasant enough, the room itself was most uncomfortable.
