Jundiaí, situated on the Jundiaí River, derives its name from the Tupi language, meaning edge of the river. Attractions include a railway museum, an energy museum, and a winery. Southeast of the city is the Serra do Japi (Japi mountain range), the site of a state park and a nature preserve with one of the largest forested areas in the Brazilian state of São Paulo.
