How deceptive a name can be

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: See above
Location: Too far from town but did have a shuttle for the airport. This should be made much clearer on the website.
We stayed for two nights (September 2014). Our room had a feature, covering a quarter of it, a large jaccuzzi bath covered with curtains. Ecologically people should not be looking to jacuzzi baths as they have no proven therapeutic value and waste significant power and water. If the room had an ambiance it spoilt it. They also did not appear to have a policy of when this could be used and so the neighbouring room that started to use theirs at after 11pm, after we had gone to sleep, was not appreciated. Most establishments we have stayed in which have such a choice do have times for usage and I suggest Best Western look at this. The TV was on top of the wardrobe, therefore high up and did not make for comfortable viewing. The two chairs provided were not lounge chairs. We thought the days of mats around the toilet bowl were long gone. The corridor approach to our room was littered with laundry bags, hoovers, etc., which were an eyesore. We had two breakfasts and one evening meal - on each occasion we commented that the dining room was cold but nothing was done about it.

It felt like we were visiting friends

Posted Jul 3, 2014
Pros: Best breakfast I have had in years. Large, comfy room
Cons: Tell the ferry to leave later. I wanted to stay longer
Location: The hotel shuttle allowed us to visit the city and get picked up from the ferry.
Beatiful house, superb staff and wonderful meals made our short stay in Juneau a 5/5 We would definately return. Hopefully next time for longer. We were extremely impressed with the front desk staff and the chef. What a wonderful experience.

Bucket list adventure

As I attempt to get in all 50 states, I decided to try Juneau Alaska as my stop in state # 42. The name of the hotel jump out at me and it was very enjoyable.

Wonderful food, helpful staff, close to the airpor

Pros: The food, especially.
Cons: Larger sign outside to direct incoming travellers.
Location: You go into Juneau, or, if you're a walker, you can walk a couple of miles to the head of Mendenhall glacier. It's literally on the same road.
This is a very large old house, converted into a sort of 'mini-hotel', with lots of character, not at all like the assembly-line uniformity of most motels. When driving here from Egan Drive (the main highway along the water, connecting the ferry terminal, airport, and downtown Juneau itself, note that it's on the left, just a few seconds after you make your turn, with a very small sign which may be difficult to see. Basically, as soon as you get on the road the hotel is on, be prepared to turn left (you'll have to get into the 'head-on collision lane' but there are normally not many cars, so it's safe). At least one room has a large jacuzzi, if you like them.

Great stopover

Posted Jul 3, 2013
Pros: Helpful service and free shuttles
Cons: Not in a scenic area, but views from our rooms were pleasant gardens.
Location: On the outskirts close to the airport.
This unusual B&B / small hotel is well located for a transit stop over in Juneau. They offer free shuttles to and from the airport, ferry terminal and downtown which is really useful. The staff were attentive and helpful and the rooms unusual but very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and we took advantage of the fact that they offer dinner too - and it was really good. Fresh fish and salads (huge portions of course, just like everything in Alaska!).

Nice place away from downtown.

excellent place. Away from downtown which is a plus because you are not run over by the hordes as they stream off those ugly huge cruise ships. The shower/tub combo in the bath area may cause some problems for the less than agile. Nice place with the added plus of a free complete breakfast. Supper is not free and is pretty standard in quality. Has a free shuttle to airport and downtown that runs every odd hour.
