Close to downtown

Pros: The location was good.
Cons: The exterior could use some work.
Location: It was right next to the Museum and within easy walking distance of all the tourist traps.
We had low expectations about this hotel after reading the Yelp reviews, but had a good experience there. The staff was nice and helpful. The exterior definintely could use some work, but the interior was fine. We had a large room with a walk in closet and another smaller closet. The carpet had a few stains but was clean as was the room itself.

It's old... the restaurant is above average. No gym.

If your looking for the cheapest hotel in Juneau

The hotel was clean and the staff was pleasant. However the bed in our room was really uncomfortable. The mattress was hard and you could feel the springs.

Great value for price.

The hotel is tired and could use a major renovation. Having said that, the staff is working very hard to keep the rooms up. Mine was very clean, spacious, had very comfortable beds and chairs. Staff was courteous and friendly. Restaurant was fine. I was there during a slow season, so it wasn't busy. Would recommend this to others who aren't expecting the most up-to-date look. Only stayed one night, but would be willing to return. Hotel is right next to the State Museum.

Pros: Room service orderd was made & brought directly up still piping hot!
Cons: Needs upgrading!
Location: great location, walking distance to downtown
It is an older hotel in need of some upgrades, but overall experience was good. Room service was super fast bringing Hot food up! Pleasurable staff - even helped one scare away a bear:)

Not as advertised
Posted Jan 16, 2012 on Hotels.com
Please do not buy into the beautiful pics that are on the advertisement for the Prospector. The building is old and the paint is peeling and chipping. The room had no screens on the window, wifi did not work, cable did not work on one tv, and the carpeting was dirty. They advertised that they had room service. They do not. The female bartender went into a two minute diatribe how she could not leave the bar to deliver any food to the rooms. All I asked was if they had room service. Also, do not pay extra for the seaside room. It overlooks the highway and you can hear the tour busses all night!
